No I'm not speaking RON. Here in the U.S. we use PON which is the average of RON & MON.

Here in the northeast, 93 is the highest available octane, 87 is the lowest. You have to adjust your thinking to a different set of standards.

ah ok, not sure how that works then!!

Depends on your cooling. What kind of intercooler are you using? The better cooling the more pressure you can run.

I wouldn't use anything but 93.

you are talking about 93 ron fuel yeh?

well the st205s map will be designed for the fuel it has in its native country, so if you have a UK import 95 ron or if its from japan 99 ron.

therefore its a REALLY bad idea to run a car like that on a low ron fuel unless you have the map adjusted to take this into account.

with 93 ron you will be down on BHP by quite a way too (239BHP for 95 ron and 255bhp for 99 ron, so roughly 4bhp per ron, so between 93 and 103 thats 40bhp!

If your stock map thinks its getting 95/97 and you put 93 in your really leaning out your fuel mixture.

i really wouldn't run it on 93!

1 bar is usually ok as a peak for day to day driving if your not planning any other mods.

sorry, guess i should have been more clear. i'll use the test light to find which circuit is drawing my battery by removing the fuses one by one until the test light glows dim. (having the test light hooked up to the battery) make sense?

ah ok. Do you have an alarm fitted?

thanks woosey, i had already done all of that though.

all i have on the battery is a set of grounding wires and the power cable for my 800w amp.

i think i'm going to get a testlight tomorrow and check fuses for the draw :-/

a test light will just show voltage? Which they will all have?

So your alt definitely checks out then, 14.4v at full output?

OK first off to check for a voltage leak somewhere you need a clamp meter that can measure DC voltage you turn your car off, make sure everything is off (interior light etc) and then test the battery + for current, you should only see around 0.3 amps being drawn when the car is off (the car alarm/immobliser using most of that!)

So common problems that cause battery drain are -

Poor alternator performance
Alarm broken/open circuit
open circuit else where on the car.

What i would do is -

1) Get your car started (jump start/bump start!)
2) Test your voltage with engine on, you should see around 13.6 volts on idle
3) Hold the engine at around 2k rpm, then test the voltage again, it should be nearer 14.2-14.4, if it is not, then your alternator is toast im afraid (its important you check the alternator does increase in voltage as engine speed increases, most people don't do this!)
4) If this does all check out then get back to me on what alarm you have and any other modifications you have done to your electrical system (added LEDs/sat nav etc)

I have a similar problem... I have an amp and volt meter and it seems like there are no major draws on the system.. seems to be fine if I drive it day after day.. but just got back from week trip and it was dead..

the amp cuts off cuz I have a switch to it plus it goes off when radio is off.. so IDK

I have a Optima Yellow Top Battery..

Can you test your DC current pull when the car is off/doors closed etc please? And we can go from there smile.gif

they look like the stock tails with the amber part redded out and the reverse lights left untouched.

Correct, done with cheap tint paint, then sanded down and laquer'd using 2k, its the only way to get a decent result.

looks good. i will trade ya straight up my ssIII rears for that rear lip you have there!!! wink.gif

No chance, that rear lip is rare as and my custom exhaust was designed for it wink.gif

welcome...may i ask what the purpose of the volvo washer jet is?. I browse on celica-club.co.uk every so often and i see some ppl who have them, but whats the point of it and the difference between the OEM one and the volvo one??

They are mist jets, so with the celica jets you get a jet of water yeh? With these you get a mist of water, so it spreads MUCH better over your windscreen

somebody on here may want your front lip if you upgrade, but on that...

The SS-III grille and splitters won't go straight on to the 94-95 front bumper, as they are made for 96+, or otherwise known as a "facelift" bumper.

I know - thats why i have bought a facelift bumper and its waiting to be fitted wink.gif

Hey, been reading your forums for a while, but thought i should really say hello!

I own a '94 UK spec GT (much like an SS-II) with a few modifications (with more in the pipeline!)

This is what it looked like when i collected it -

At the moment this is how it stands -

(ignore that cat and dirty car!)

IPB Image

Mods done -

De badged rear (i know the 2nd picture shows the badges still on!)
De cat s/s cat back exhaust
volvo mist washer jets (
IPB Image
stock washer jet furthest away!) this is a great mod!
Tinted indicators
17" TSW wheels with p zero rosso tyres painted in citreon meteor grey
Clear side indicators
HIDs (guess which bulb is the HID bulb wink.gif IPB Image

Mods i have bought and are still to fit -

Spax 40mm lowering springs
JDM power fold mirrors (ill link this to the alarm, so when you lock the car, the mirrors fold in)
Face lift bumper

Mods i still want -

SS-III Grill
SS-III Splitters

Anyone got any thoughts on anything else that might look good?

thanks

chris
