My son's 94 ST needs a new o2 sensor and the local auto parts wants $100 for the exact fit replacement. So I checked for the Bosch 12102 sensor and bought it for $49, $7 bucks shipping. Anyone else save a bundle from Amazon on car parts? He's off to college so we'll replace it when he comes back this next weekend. |

I just replaced all four on the kids' S/T. Bought them from Oriellys Auto (under 10 apiece). He should have replaced the boots when he did the bearings. Now you get to undo what he just put back together. Raise car onto sturdy jackstands, remove wheel, axle nut (may need to use crowbar wedged between stud and hub other end against the ground. to keep it from turning), Unbolt lower ball joint from control arm. Unbolt swaybar link. drain trans, pull axle out of spindle/ brake caliper. Then pry inner CV joint out of trans, removing entire axle assembly from vehicle. Using a very small screwdriver un bend keepers on the boots bands, and carefully unbend the clamps. Make a mental note of assembly so you can put ti back properly. The inner joint comes first, using a paint pen mark the parts for reassembly (match mark) remove clamp and boot. pull boot back to allow access to the snap ring to be able to disassemble the inner joint. mark these parts too. Remove outer boot clamps and slide boot off axle shaft. Note; outer CV joint does not come apart, all clamps, boots slide onto shaft and are reassembled using new grease included in the kit. Use care and make sure all parts go back together in proer alignment so you don't have any vibrations. |

My bad on the Pm, anyway it pretty much covered what I posted I had it all typed out then thought I hit the send before I went back into the garage to work on the ST, I needed to replace the engine due to a teenage driver and lack of checking oil would do it in a short time. I bought a JDM engine off ebay. Check oil at every fill up or top off, and it'll run fine until your able to do something about it. |

Found my rear main seal to be "cocked" in the seal housing, bottom side was flush with the rear side top was pushed in to the front of the retainer. Never expected to see that, but glad to see that it was definetly bad, Found my axle outer boots trashed too, got the manual trans back in late this afternoon, going to finish it up Friday/ Sat. Still need to replace the water pump. I could press the old seal in the housing with my hand, new seal required a seal driver. |

My head gasket was caused from a leaky water pump, caused rear main oil seal to go mamaries up. Spent the last three days under the hood and ready to get it completed. My rad looks good. No leaks |

I have my car up on jackstands right now, I used a floor jack on the center engine support to raise the vehicle enough to put 6x6 wood blocks under the tires, then reposition the jack to be able to lift more so I can put the jack stands under the lower control arm attach points not the lower control arms. It's about 16" off the ground at that point. Very stable. |

Just finished up replacing the head gasket due to a compresion leak into the radiator (foaming the antifreeze). Start it up and now the rear main is hemorraging oil out of the bellhousing. Anyone out there replaced their rear main seal "in the car"? Gonna have to pull the trans, flywheel to get to it. What a PITA. |

Answered your PM. My son's 7AFE was burning two qts every tank, I installed new valve stem seals using an on engine type spring compressor that I bought off ebay ($75) I sure was hoping that it was going to stop burning oil, but it didn't slow it at all. I installed a JDM engine that I picked up for cheap. Be sure an get one of those magnet probe to help install the stem locks back in. and cover up the oil return ports on the head to keep the small locks from falling into the pan. If I was going to do it again, I'd pull the head and do them on the bench. |

Found these while searching on google, sure look like a good choice for a set of seat covers for the kids '94 S/T. $169 per pair. Several other options avail. Has anyone bought from them or have a set on their 6gc? http://www.gtcovers.com/index.asp |

QUOTE(95GTCelica @ Oct 29, 2007 - 9:34 PM) O.K...After getting over the intial shock of finding out that I only need a paper clip to check the code on the check engine light I immediatly got on here to find out what this means. I got a code 71 and looked it up to find out that it means something is wrong with my EGR System. What could be wrong with the system? Is it costly? Should I be worried? Still can't believe that the paper clip trick worked. lol saved me $80 at the mechanic. Here's another shocker- all you need is a $.99 radio shack resistor to make it go away!!! Seriously, I'd check the EGR tube/ valve for blocked passages. Also could be the EGT sensor. The sensor is what you bypass with the resistor. Basically the gas flows thru the head from the exhaust, if the tube or passages are blocked the sensor doesn't warm up and it will show 71 in the ecu. It takes two drive cycles to trip the CEL so when you clean the stuff drive it, let it sit then drive it again to see if the CEL comes on. Keep us posted what you find. |

My son modified his Celi by massaging it on a truck. He now has a one-eyed celi too. Waiting on a coupla headlights from fellow 6gc members to save costs. If you go to the stealership; $179 for low beam, $156 for high beam ouch! Maybe you should take up deer hunting so you can get even!!! |
