by works at Toyota do you mean works at a dealership? because theres a huge diffierence in knowledge, generally. and, as far as Celicas/Supras go...I wouldn't hold your breath. This is how it always goes..."A guy I know/my uncle/best friends neighbors twice removed cousin who used to work at a honda dealership/pet cat says that the Celica/Supra is coming back in 20XX!!!111" I don't mean to piss on the proverbial parade here. |

I didn't say it was total crap and a complete waste of time. i respect good fabrication but im just unsure of the inspiration here. The guy has ALOT of time and money in that. It would piss me off if the only thing people had to say was "i dont get it" Im not flaming on you, but you dont need inspiration to make a beautiful car. im not oblivious to the money and time fact. like i said i respect the fab. im the first person to ask about his inspiration, so im definately outnumbered, i think he'll be okay. i dont wanna turn this into a pissing match or get the guys thread locked. And i think you are slightly mistaken, if someone is going to dump a couple grand into something, im sure they have inspiration. Michelangelo, DaVinci, Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Chris Foose, and other artists all have an inspiration, otherwise, what would the point be? An artist always knows that when they choose to display their work to the world's population, they will get all sorts of feedback. He was inspired to make his Celica something different and outlandish, and he has succeeded with his dream. idk, i hope you see the point im trying to make here. im not trying to make this turn into a negative thread by all means, so id like to stop here before moderators have to intervene. If he doesn't like my post he can tell me and it can be removed. |

QUOTE(spolski07 @ Dec 18, 2006 - 2:32 AM) again im pretty sure the scion dealer would know what tC stands for he does work for them its thridCar Okay, for one, dealers don't know diddly. They just sell the cars. They are salesmen. They do not work for Toyota. tC is TOURING COUPE. Put it to rest. "Why not xC, you ask? Well, Volvo has the rights to that with its XC90. The tC stands for Touring Coupe. And the name Scion, what does that mean? According to the trusty Merriam-Webster online dictionary, a scion is a descendant. This is logical, for Scion is Toyota's. Toyota understands that Gen Y buyers have different priorities, and that the cars should be designed to meet them." |

I have the same stance with hardtop shells. The reason S2k's and Miatas have them is because they aren't offered as coupes, just verts. If you really want no top, get a vert. If you want a hardtop, get a coupe or hatch. IDK. Just seems like a waste of money to me |

Sell your car, and buy a convertible. Chopping the roof off seems like a terrible idea and could possibly ruin your car. It will seriously throw off the structural rigidty, and could end in a botched custom work, with a ruined car that you won't be able to get rid of. Toyota made convertibles for people that wanted no tops, and hardtops for the opposite reason. Choose wisely before considering this. |

If you don't have the will to search this forum for the answers to your questions, you don't have the will to put forth the GRAND amount of effort to make your car AWD, turbo your car, swap your car, or beat a Supra. You're starting with a not-so-great platform as a Celica fwd. These are my personal opinions, but I think you lack the self-reliance to do reach these goals if you have to ask us all these questions. I don't mean to put you down, by all means, do it man. Give it a shot. |

a convertible celica? the girls would have loved that. It always confused me why they never made a convertible 7th gen or a convertible Mercury Cougar. I believe both cars are aimed at a more feminine market. |

wtf? This is so moot. tC is "Touring Coupe". It's not TOYOTA anything. Get off the idea that they tried to put some hidden meaning behind the name. |
