What I must say (I know it's crazy) LHD gives me less fun than RHD. After about 5000miles with RHD my left hand wants to shift (so I hit many times doors now smile.gif), I'm using wiper instead turn signals and... already twice hit a curb with wheel (because car is on wrong side again biggrin.gif)). If Chris reads this he must smile because first thing I did driving RHD was hitting curb with passanger's side front wheel smile.gif.

laugh.gif yep, then just after that it was the end of the first road when you turned out onto the wrong side.
Me: "Ummm Martin other side"
Martin: "What"
Me: "You need to be on the other side of the road"
Martin: "Ahh yes..." *swerve* "this is going to take a bit of getting used to!" biggrin.gif

You soon got the hang of it though mate, so I'm certain that you'll soon be comfortable with the LHD again. wink.gif

It looks fantastic anyway Martin, you must be really pleased! I'm very jelous that you have such a good place to spray the car. It looks perfectly colour matched with the old parts. I really want a respray now!

I think Delusionz has it right. The fuel gauge and the warning light work off two different circuits although the sensors are in the same fuel sender unit.
Looking at the diagram, i would guess that by disconnecting the plug at the fuel sender and grounding the yellow wire with red stripe that the gauge should jump to show a full tank. If the fault is a break in the wire between the sender and the gauge then this would not happen however.

I met a guy at the Japanese North West meet last night who is driving over with his Czech girlfriend to see here parents in Prague. They're setting off tomorrow i think, in his newly imported white 205. So keep a look out for another UK plate gt4 in Prague for a few days smile.gif

Hmmm, i've never really considered the coupe/hatchback thing, i just picked one of the options from the list. Over here I think they're generally considered a coupe, like manphibian says, hatchback is normally something with a steeper rear hatch, where coupe's are lower sportier cars with two doors. The GT4 only came in one body style, so everyone can call it whatever they like, all that matters is I hold on for dear life when the turbo kicks in wink.gif

How do the UK guys work out their proper milage? Like, A large portion of that 139XXX would have ticked over in kilometers in japan, and then with the speedo correcter that would start ticking over at rate 1.6x slower? Do they just ignore the big number and just approximate the real answer if someone asks?

If it's done say 100k Km when it gets converted, we just work out the km in miles (in that case, 62k miles) from the import certificate and then add the rest on from there. Some people take the calculated value in miles and then have the clocks altered to match. Mine is a UK ST205, so I don't have to bother with the pesky conversion or speed limiter tongue.gif

Oh, and the fuel gauge on Martin's is a bit quirky as you can see laugh.gif the low fuel light still works, but the needle appears to have resigned.
I drove this car on Friday night and I can definately vouch for how smooth it drives. The gearbox is silky smooth compared to mine. In fact, i want a new gearbox now after that drive!

Was great to meet you at last Martin, and so pleased that you made it back from your adventure safely. I was a bit worried about how you'd manage with the steering wheel on the wrong side biggrin.gif Looking forward to seeing this new project take shape.... this forum has no popcorn smiley mad.gif

are 3sgte low impedance or high? willing to part just the injectors?

Hi there
These standard injectors are low impedance as the 3sgte uses a resistor pack. When high impedance injectors are used in our engines, the reistor pack has to be bypassed to allow them to work correctly.
I would be willing to sell separately for the right offer.

Hi guys
Just thought I'd share my new vid with you from the last round of the toyota sprint series.
Plenty of gen 6 action, mostly of the modified GT4 variety.
Look out for the head to head section showing Fensport's corolla up against another racer. biggrin.gif
Anyways, hope you like.

no way you cut up a gt4 bumper kindasad.gif wow i wouldnt have the ballz to cut up a gt4 bumper.......great job once again. so when are the rims going on with a nice photo shoot??

As said, the GT4 bumper was busted up. frown.gif
I was going to take it to the rubbish tip but Martin asked if I would cut the middle out and send it over.

It sounded like a great celica project, so I couldn't refuse biggrin.gif

Martin, the finished bumper looks stunning, you must be grinning constantly! biggrin.gif
Excellent work and dare I say, I think it does look better than the GT4 bumper!... although I don't think I can take a saw to my black one lol.
Absolutely love the colour too, can't wait to see it with the new rims fitted too!

I think I might be one of the very honoured minority who have had a sneak preview, and I can safely say that it's a great project and looks to be an awesome bit of work!
You guys are gonna love it! And no I won't reveal anything before you ask! tongue.gif
Hey Martin, driving that aygo will only make the celica feel even better to drive when you finally get back in it biggrin.gif
Hope you get it back soon wink.gif

Last month was the first of the UK toyota sprint series events.
Organised in part by UK celica tuners Fensport.
Here's a little vid I put together of some footage from the event. Features mainly GT4's, with a bit of the fensport Corolla and the DoLuck Supra!
Hope you enjoy it biggrin.gif

Hi Guys, Thanks for the verbal kick up the backside Bigwaaagh biggrin.gif

Right, Vents have gone to Malpeso, and best offer on the strut brace is your's Bigwaaagh (pending confirming postage cost)

I'll need to check postage costs to Holland for that, but Malpeso has been monopolising my time the last few opportunities laugh.gif tongue.gif Spent over 2 hours packing the vents and various other parts for him last night!!

I have had to find another postoffice to go to aswell because my local one has deemed me a pest for continually asking prices!! Isn't that part of their job? It's no wonder the UK post office is making massive loses eh!!

I digress, I will check postage asap smile.gif

Cheers
Chris

Ps, if i've forgotten to answer any pms for parts enquiries, give me a nudge smile.gif

Interested in c-one strut bar. Do you have splitters on your car? If so im also interested in those.

The C-one stuff is on my black gt4 which is not being broken for parts.. she's my baby wink.gif
The silver GT4 was a standard JDM model.
Do you mean the two little plastic splitters under the front bumper??
If so, I don't have them on mine, but there's a guy in Japan that does them at a reasonable price.

silver GT4 breaking for parts.
Couple of items I can see that are appealing on your side of the puddle and shouldn't cost a remortgage to ship are the rear strut brace and the bonnet vents. Feel free to enquire about other bits, but like i say, shipping will probably be a bitch on anything over a couple of kilos! Payment by paypal only. Edit to say, parts are from the silver standard jdm gt4, NOT my black modified one wink.gif

Rear strut Brace
Is in great condition and comes with padded cover which is also in great shape. Also little plastic end caps for the trim. One has a small crack (shown in photo) but it's not easy to see when fitted. The other end cap has one little tab missing off the back, but you can't see this when fitted.

As with most cars of this age, it is not immaculate and has a few stone chips and a couple of small supermarket door dints/scratches. Additionally to this, it has a dink above the rear quarter window (looks worse in the pic than it actually is) where some theiving scum tried to lever the window out with a screwdriver mad.gif See the pic below.

Please feel free to ask any questions, or come have a look at it.

sounds like basic boost cut then, i'm not familiar with a tvsv monitor, but I can't imagine it will show anything if it is blocked off. make the FCD that you were on about and fit that to the ecu wiring. You can then trim the boost cut up to what you want. bear in mind though that with the standard ecu map and the standard 440cc injectors, you can't boost over 16PSI as you will begin to under fuel because the fuel map does not go any further and your injector duty cycle will be getting close to max.

Not sure of your exact setup, but it sounds (and looks on your profile) like you have the 2nd gen setup. Do you have the 2nd gen ecu and cylinder head?
If so, you will not be running a map sensor, only an air flow meter (which i could see in one of your pics).
In terms of the boost cut, the tvsv is not linked to a map sensor, but a turbo pressure sensor, and is only active in 3rd, 4th & 5th gear. It's basically a open or closed valve which when open bleeds off about 3psi from the actuator. If you're running a boost controller, you should really block the vsv off as strictly speaking you have 2 controllers fighting each other for control. You might find that this results in boost spikes which are causing the over boost and fule cut. Try blocking the vsv off first by blocking both the pipe on the actuator and the pipe running to the vsv. This will also allow full boost in all gears.
Failing that, you can install a boost cut defencer which can be made quite easily which will mask the reading from the turbo pressure sensor so that you can run higher boost. Don't run more than 14PSI though unless you have a metal head gasket, otherwise it will fail fairly quickly.

Details on the vsv and how to block it off, and also how to make a Fuel cut defencer are on this website along with loads of other really useful info. www.gtfours.co.uk

Hope that helps
Chris
