I get Amsoil from Joe's (formerly G.I. Joe's) when they go on sale 15% off. It's usually cheaper than buying from a dealer if shipping is involved. I used to use Redline, but it's more expensive than Amsoil, even moreso with the sale.

Well, I bought a 3VZ-FE engine from tigerjapanese about 2-3 years ago to replace the one in my family's 92 Lexus ES300. It started right up after the swap and has passed emissions. That's just my experience though. I really should do a compression test on her though, she feels weaker than my brother's 93 ES300 and my sister's 93 Camry V6 XLE, both of which is the 3VZ-FE engine. As you can see, we're a Toyota family smile.gif

Stop stressing over little things like that. It'll just make your life more miserable than it has to be. Normally traffic cameras take more than one picture and it gets reviewed to ensure the pictures are clear enough for evidence (ie. face of driver and license plates). The pictures will probably show you turning right, and so long as that's legal, they shouldn't send you a ticket. However, if it is legal and you do receive a ticket, just follow the directions on how to appeal the ticket. It's a hassle, but nothing worth stressing over.

As for the paycheck, just tell your boss/human resources of the error and they'll make the corrections on your next paycheck. Worst case scenario is you fill out a form and they screw up the following paycheck as well. It happens all the time; again, not something to stress over. Unless of course you're tight with money and unable to make payments on your bills on time. In which case, I'd recommend borrowing money from a family member or close friend for two weeks til you get your money. I'd also highly recommend making a budget and save enough money for at least a few months worth of bills. It's always a good idea to have a 6 month buffer (though 2 is more realistic), should any sort of emergency occur.

Anyone remember what Coomer sold his car for originally? I personally wouldn't want to buy it for more after all the flogging it's been through with these past few owners.

Hey GriffGirl,

I'm at work now, so I don't have time to read over the thread, but I'm interested in one. I'm in Portland as well, so if we can arrange a time and place for me to pay and pick up all at once, that would work best for me. Let me know, thanks.

It's knowing that it was once clean that matters right? smile.gif Maybe you can apply some sort of sealant to help keep it clean.

I'd go with a silencer or a new resonator as well. If you really want to sound deaden your car, there are a lot of options to choose from. The most common ones you'll hear of are Dynamat Extreme, Second Skin, and RAAMmat BXT. The price drops accordingly.

Dynamat Extreme and Second Skin are essentially the same. RAAMmat BXT is thinner and the cheapest of the three I've mentioned. Many people buy this and add extra layers where they feel like it needs more like the wheel wells and along the exhaust piping. IMO RAAMmat BXT isn't as good as Second Skin or Dynamat Extreme, but for most people it is sufficient and cost effective.

I recommend getting some paint on sound dampener of your choice as well. Put it in your wheel well between the plastic mud guard and chassis to add an extra layer of dampening. Just be sure to add multiple THIN layers.

You can always add a layer of sound dampening to your roof as well smile.gif

now those are pretty sweet.

I disagree, but to each their own. I think it ruins the flow of the car. It'd be a little better if it weren't so long.

Second Skin is better than RAAMaudio IMO. It's essentially the same as Dynamat Extreme, only cheaper. You might get Dynamat Extreme for cheaper than Second Skin if you know someone that works at Best Buy.

The reasons I like Dynamat Extreme and Second Skin are: higher quality mass loading (no tar/asphalt), higher quality foam (better noise reduction), added high frequency noise dampening from aluminum backing, and lack of a smell (comes from tar/asphalt in other products).

I also highly recommend using their liquid dampeners on the inside of wheel wells between the plastic guard and chassis. Tires cause a lot of noise and having an extra layer of dampening helps a lot.

Covering your entire floor, doors, trunk, and roof takes approximately 150 square foot, adding roughly 75lbs to your car. Sure she's a bit heavier, but she's not nearly as annoying! smile.gif

Another option is to hard mount your speakers in your door to reduce the vibrations and improve sound quality. This is a bit expensive unless you're able to make your own brackets and do the work yourself.

Hi, long time lurker here and unfortunately not a 6GC owner YET.

I was wondering if it would be possible for you to add markers to posts that we haven't read yet inside a topic, much like the unread orange topic markers? This allows people to scroll through until they see the marker so they know where they last left off. Other than that, I think this site is great. thumbsup.gif
