Just to clarify : Egypt doesn't have that much oil availble. So its not really an oil-rich Country. Prices are low because it is supported by Government Funding. |

I been looking into where i will be living and whether its close or far from the university campus , seems like a car is practically useless in that city. Bicycles are the way to go , and if not bicycles , its public transport. So , my car will become a liability , i will probably only get to use it on the weekends , or maybe never. Paying insurance for a car that i only use 4 times a month is absurd. Seems like i will have to let go of the Celi ..... either that or park it here in my dad's garage and let it rot ... the campus doesn't have much parking space , and even less parking spaces for motorcycles ( my dream transport ) , motorcycles pay 2 different parking fees ! i should go make a feeler FS thread .. Anyone interested in a 97 GT convertible with minor issues here and there ?? lol |

i know that when u turn on your A/C, it is supposed to adjust your car's idle accordingly in order to counter the stress the A/c puts on your engine. But i still dont know which vacuum line does it and how it control it , so my car shakes as well |

i will start by a short introduction : i been living in Southern California for about 2 1/2 years now ( born and raised in Egypt) . I been going to Community college for the last 2 years, when time came to start applying to 4 year universities , i decided to go all out and applied to all kinds of schools. Well , i got in to UC Berkeley ! Sure i was excited for about a week , but as time passes , i am getting a bit scared. Now that i am 5 days or so of finishing my last semester here in community college , i am to the point where i am just terrified. So why am i posting here ? Well , the fellow 6gc community have been very helpful in the past and such , and i thought that since we are nicely diverse , i can get some good advice. i have many things that i fear , but the main thing is moving away from home, i lived at home all my life , always depended heavily on my mom for basic survival , and now i don't know what will do once i start living alone. I am planing on finding a room in a house , since i don't like the idea of a roommate ( all on-campus housing are 2+ per room). I am just wondering what to expect ? Also , since i am moving away , i am just wondering what do i take ? i need some help coming up with a list since i am clueless !! Anybody from the Bay area ?? How is it like ? what should i expect ? Since i am slightly anti-social and don't have friends ( thus terrified of a new place) , i basically have anyone to consult with and have no clue about whats coming , so i came here |

well if youre on a budget i guess you could replace the shocks, go drop springs if you want, replace top shock mounts......and grease the hell out of everything else it depends though on what kind of noise and where the noise is coming from. if you hear like a light whomping noise (hard to explain) then you need new wheel bearings hope this helps..... Car has all kinda of noises right now , my rear rotors are warped and are making a horrible metal grind noise , the suspension over all is not smooth , sounds horrible when i pass over something. My main concern is this sort of thumb that i feel coming from either the left wheel or the tranny .. i am yet to figure out what it is. I been saving up for a while now , but i still have to watch my spending since University is coming up ( i am in community college) , i will have to move up to northern California because i will be going to UC Berkeley ( kinda brag-ish ) |

-the keyboard duster is made on inert gas compressed into the can. when u flip it upside down, its sprays the liquefied gas which instantly re-expands , thus dropping the temp ..... i am not a hundred percent sure , but that stuff maybe do something to your paint , since when its in liquid form it can act like a solvent ...... but this is just an ASSUMPTION made after taking a couple of chemistry classes , so i might be wrong ... safer just to use ice cubes , or ice cold water |

wouldn't the hot glue mess up the paint ?? - i heard suction cups do wonders , just don't over do it or u will end up with an outwards bulge. - what i did with dings on my doors was this : let it heat in the sun , then stick an ice cube on it , it pops right out .. magic , but i am not sure if that will work with a bigger size dent . - that spot should be easily accessed from the wheel well , after removing the plastic cover , maybe try and push it out ??? ... that is just a noob suggestion though , i am not sure how it will react ... might make it worse or flake your paint ... hope this helped. |

I am sorry for your loss , hope his family is doing allright. - and thanks for the warnings because i usually get under the car for oil changes with it only being lifted by the stock jack , thinking that i am safe since i am only extending my arm under there and my head is not that much underneath the car. But now that i read this , i can imagine a whole bunch of things that can go wrong ! |

I asked this Question before and apparently no one knows for sure a place that can do it. there are alot of motor sports shops out there , but the chance of finding someone that knows the celi good enough not to mess it up are low. Try asking around , you might get lucky. However , It is a better idea to do it yourself , if u think u dont know enough to do , there are a couple of 6Gers in Cali that did the swap and i am sure they can help , also if u do it yourself , it will be easier to work out the bugs that follows the swap , and u will always know exactly how to deal with upcoming stuff, not to mention the tons of experience and the feeling that u did it yourself !! luckily enough , a 94 can actually be legal in CA .... u can get the Emission systems from USDM parts , which are pretty simple for a 94 , as far as i know , all u need really is the EGR stuff , all u need is a USDM head , so that it have the EGR opening on it. Goodluck ! |

From my small experience getting my car painted : - i found a small shop that was willing to paint it with 2 stage paint ( 2layers of paint and 2 clear coat ) , and also pull the dents in the body !! which was a great deal. Now everybody warned me from chepa pain jobs because usually it turns bad as the car doesn't receive much labor and is done bad ! However , on my car , i thought it was painted very nicely with very lil defects with the paint , Overall , labor done on the car was great but the materials used were not so great ( my car is black at night , looks brown in the sunlight lol ) ... so my suggestion , look around alot ! get estimates and always look at the people's work , preferably in sunlight and not the shops lighting ... if u want to save some $$$ and still get good paint , find a shop that does good work and get a list of materials needed , then go buy good stuff yourself. changing the colour will be a pain since you will Definitely have to pay more in order to paint inside of doors and trunk , and your engine bay will remain green so goodluck |

My new mechanic has one, he used to work for TRD , I didn't ask him which year , but it was a 5th gen Celica alltrack , LHD with the 3sgte ... the one he has has barely any interior but he is working on it ( very slowly ) .. first time i went to him i was actually more interested in looking at the alltrac than fixing my car |

Man , nothing more important than money , guess they should make the cameras more hidden so people make more mistakes ! -the pictures taken by these cameras are usually reviewed before the tickets go out , thats why that camera in riverside don't give people tickets ( thats not the only faulty one lol ) , i get flashed alot taking right turns on red light when its not illegal , never go a ticket. As for cameras being invasion of privacy ??? how so , they are here to make it safer for everybody , if u dont want it to flash you , don't break the law its trying to enforce |

well , looks like i am NOT getting any new car ... i started making more per month , about 300$ more so i thought i can afford buying a car , but apparently the increase in insurance is just insane ! even for the hyundai , its like 240$ and i tried 5 companies ... so i guess i am keeping the Celi !! which is good news ...somehow .. thanks for those who tried to help , and sorry to waste your time , guess mods should just delete this thread |

I asked around and found this guy who apparently is a toyota expert , he worked for TRD , he worked for Toyota in japan and other stuff , so i am taking my car there by thursday .. sadly i have to drive it to and from school ,which is about 5 miles ... as i said the car has pinging if i try to drive it hard ( which i dont ) or going on an uphill , the engine is still misfiring like crazy ! but not overheating , i can tell it gets hot much uicker and the fans come on more frequent when standing still now , i know pinging/knocking/misfiring can cause engine damage , specially if i pushed the engine to around 5K rpm ( when i test drove it right after i had the belt changed) ... so to expect the worst , lest just say i toasted something in the engine , maybe damaged cylinder walls , pistons , rods ... etc ..... now i asked this before but i am still freaking out , now worst case scenario : engine is critically damage , rebuild or replacement required , how much should i expect to pay for a used 5s in decent enough shape ?? i have a couple for friends that offered to help me swap the motor if its damaged (but not the timing belt lol ) ... so what do u guys think thanks for all those who replied , i know i keep asking the same stuff again and again so thanks for patience |

i guess i am being way too picky with this , but i am just trying to get a car that i can be satisfied with. i know budget is not that great. WRXs are also expensive to insure ( and buy) , so i cant have one .... my options are very limited and it seems like the only cars that i can buy and not worry about reliability are Hondas and Toyotas lol |
