QUOTE (Poonicus @ Jan 12, 2014 - 7:26 PM) *
I'm looking for

-3sgte exhaust manifold
-3sgte oil pan
-3sgte oil/water coolant lines to and from turbo w/ oil drain hose
-3sgte intercooler w/ fan
-3sgte turbo to intercooler pipe
-3sgte 2 bar map sensor part #23250-70080
-MkIII Supra NA injectors light green tops
-decent cheapish boost gauge

will probably be adding more but this is what i need as of this moment.

I was going to turbo my 5s but ended up not doing it. So i've got the following laying in a box somewhere in my garage:

Manifold, oil pan, oil/coolant hard line, and the MAP sensor.

I can dig it out and shoot you some PICs after work.

Hey guys,

So about 2 months ago my pedal started sticking to the floor. Figured the simple fix was to swap the slave so I hit autozone and picked up a new slave for like 9 bucks or something. Drained all the fluid and started fresh, bled the system and all was well.

Fast forward to today, issue is happening again. Since I got a cheesy one from autozone i'm debating on getting another slave cylinder from a more reputable company and see if that fixes the issue. I'm just not sure if I should head down this road again or just go for a master cylinder. Let me know what you guys think.

Don't think it matters but in case it does...I'm running an Exedy OE clutch/pressure plate and a Fidanza flywheel.

Umm, I dont think the ecu will 'set' the timing. It just makes slight adjustments based on readings from the knock sensor. Realize that the ECU varies the time at which the ignition coil fires, it cannot change when the rotor physically passes the contacts within the distributor cap.

Base timing must be set with the E1 and TE1 contacts jumpered in the OBD1 diagnostic port that is near the brake/clutch mastercylinders under the hood. Use a timing light to set the base timing to 12 degrees BTDC.

At least this is how it is on my 94 GT, but it could be different on the 98 because I believe you have a crankshaft position sensor the older models dont have.

Is it possible to rotate the distributor once you loosen the two bolts attaching it to the head, or are the bolt-holes not slotted so that you cant rotate the distributor?

96 and up you cannot adjust the timing. 94-95 you can turn the dizzy. If he has a 94-95 dizzy he could in theory adjust the timing but over time the ECU will adjust it. Easiest thing to do would be to check the timing to verify it is where it should be.

So when I did mine I kept my existing mounts, saw no reason to swap those. Same for the bump stops. I did buy new lower insulators as mine were pretty beat up. I got my stuff at the same price someone else mentioned $165 Tein springs and about 50 bucks per corner on the struts. Most of this was free shipping aswell. So yeah, $400-$500 is easily achievable.

+1 on axle, simple enough DIY if you can turn a wrench (and possibly use a crow bar).

Even if you can't turn a wrench most shops only charge 1 hour labor to do this job. OTD price at a shop should be fairly cheap.

I'm a fan of Hertz, Focal, and Polk. These are typically more money but the sound difference is night and day. I'd recommend you stick with what you have now and save for something that is better than the average best buy speaker.

I usually just hit the dealer for missing items like bolts. Usually a couple bucks each but knowing you got the right size and grade makes it worth it to me.

I cleaned mine when the motor was out of the car. I couldn't imagine trying to take it off with the engine in the bay. Not saying it can't be done, just seems like it would be more work than its worth if everything is working fine. Mine was also a 5s, dunno what the 7a looks like...

Depending what your budget is....
Here is what I bought and it is THE best mod I've ever done to my car:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Big-Brake-Kit-CELI...090&vxp=mtr

The company has #1 customer service, too. wink.gif

Nice kit but might be overkill for some. For a daily driver, brembo blanks with some EBC pads is what i'd recommend.

Make sure you have a good gasket scraper, those old ones are a PITA to get off.

Top banjo bolt is a 17mm, bottom line is a 14mm. I'd also suggest you get new crush washers for the banjo bolt.

Long story short I'm rebuilding my top end (engine out) and since I had to take the injectors off to pull the head and my car's got 182k miles I figured I'd send my injector's in to be cleaned. I chose RC Engineering to do the work and figured some of you might be interested in the flow sheet. Below is pic of my before and after testing.

Total Cost - $106 ($24 per injector + $10 return shipping)
Total Time - 3 days (1 day to them, 1 day to clean, 1 day return ship)

Injens dont need to be oiled

*nvm, I was wrong about that

Go for AEM Dry-Flow intakes

I am looking for a replacement filter element for my Injen Intake. I feel like it is sucking some oil that contributes on the clogging of the IACV. I am looking to replace it with K&N.

I've never heard of dry-flow intakes, how is that different? No need to oil it or no oil on the filter element?

Dry flow is no need to oil.

get a 98 or 99 celica head gasket kit, it will come with all the gaskets you need, including a new METAL gasket. the OEM gasket is the best one on the market. part number for the kit is 04112-74581

http://www.toyomotorparts.com/components/t...1-03-10765.html

dont get an aftermarket kit. you will regret it!

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.

Just wondering to those of you who have rebuilt your head what brand gaskets you purchased? I'm looking to get a whole top end kit, was considering this:

http://performance.importrp.com/cometic/co...it/g-62543.aspx
or
http://catalog.importrp.com/item.wws?sku=2...mp;weight=1.250

The first link listed says its for 88mm bore but i thought the 5s-fe was an 87mm? Or is it just stating it can be used with a max 88mm bore? My car will be a daily driver, no crazy power. I just want something that will last. Let me know what you guys think.

My engine is a '94 Cali emission 5S-FE.

I'm guessing it's a Cali Emission 5sfe but it's not registered in Cali? Removing any of the 3 cats we have will fail the Cali Emissions section of the SMOG tests right?

3 cats? I thought we had two...

I've got the same panels in mine. I ended up running 6.5 in 8" hole. All my bass will come from the subs in the trunk. Mids/highs from the doors and rear. If you want a good setup go to a real shop. What my ears like yours may not. The brands I prefer in order:

1.) Focal
2.) Hertz
3.) Polk Audio

I've ran Alpine, Pioneer, kicker, MTX. In a side by side comparison I prefer the top three over anything else. Again, i would strongly suggest you go to an authorized dealer and ask to listen to a variety of different brands with YOUR music.

the bolts for the bracket that the passenger side motor mount bolts to...are those what you are talking about?

Exactly what i'm talking about.

^^^ thats what it sounds like, if that is the case, i dont really see an alternative but pulling the engine to have enough room in there to get them out. it also depends on where they are broken for how to get them out. take the engine mount off, and if you have threads sticking out, vice grips should get them out. if non, then you need to drill and use an easy-out to back them out.

No threads sticking out. They are pretty much flush with the block. Easy-out is what I was thinking, just a matter of getting to them. Sounds like she's got to come out for this to happen.

So I noticed my motor was sitting crooked. Its currently leaning downward on the passenger side. I found the rear mount (tranny) was busted (rubber cracked from one side to the other) so I went to the dealer and got a new one. It was a PITA to get in but I made it happen. After getting everything bolted back up I lowered my jack that was supporting the engine and to my surprise the engine was till crooked.

So the next day I unbolted the 3 bolts on the passenger side mount and after the last one came out the whole mount was loose. I found it was not even bolted to the engine. After getting it all the way out I found 2 of the 3 bolts that mount on the block are broken, inside the block. The third i have no idea where it went...

Has this happened to anyone before? If so how did you get them out? Access is very limited. I don't see it being possible without removing the motor. What do you guys think?

Before I had a garage and air tools I had to this in my carport. I ended up getting a Ryobi cordless impact gun at home depot for $99 bucks. Had to buy the battery/charger as they were sold separately but all in all I think I spent around $180ish. I remember they also had a corded dewalt that would probably get it off aswell for about the same price.
