The only reason I would put any credence to the rumors of a Celica return is that the Solara is being killed off. This will leave a hole the Toyota line for a 2 door coupe. I really believe that a new Celica would be built around the 2AZ for the US market. I would rather see that than the tired 1ZZ being dropped into it again. I have a 1ZZ in my Corolla, but it’s a dog when compared with even the sluggish 5S in my Celica. If they kept the weight down a 2AZ powered Celica would be fun to drive. If they got ballsy and wanted to rattle Detroit’s cage a little they could also build it with a GTS trim and use the new 3.5L power plant. That would only be 32hp short of the advertised 300hp of a V8 Mustang. That would be a pretty quick car and by using Camry motors and transmissions the price shouldn’t be too ridiculous. |

QUOTE(WALKER @ Dec 3, 2007 - 6:32 PM) Good thread, I'll see if I can get this done tomorrow. QUOTE(Kwanza26 @ Dec 4, 2007 - 1:19 AM) A larger throttle body means you can potentially move more air... BUT... if the head and cams are not designed to take advantage of that, overall performance increase isn't going to be worth all of the custom fab time needed. IMO, might as well built a whole new intake manifold, because if you're talking about making horsepower... the intake manifold can be seen as a horsepower limiter. Exactly. If you don't have all the parts lying around it's probably not going to be worth the time / work for a few ponies and slightly quicker throttle response. However, if your driveway looks like a used Toyota dealership and you have multiple parts cars in the garage, well why not try something new . |

100x Cup Holders – I have knocked drinks out of them more than once. They’re right where I put my arm when I shift. That’s about it. Other than the lack of a GE motor is the US market I think Toyota built a heck of a car with the 6GC. The design still looks nice after 13+ years, not too many cars built in 1994 have that much appeal based solely on appearance, as they look very dated now. |

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this. It looks close and I have all the parts to do it. Has anyone swapped the TB off a 4A-GE to a 5S-FE, the 4A-GE throttle body is about .25in larger, and it looks like might bolt up without modification. I over-bored the TB on my Solara and got a pretty good increase in throttle response, so I figure if this is a strait bolt on for my Celica it might be a nice addition. This wouldn’t cost a dime to do, and everything measured close, so I am going to try it if no one else has done it before. |

Hey guys, I have a ’94 GT. I am going to be doing the clutch and flywheel on it. Does ARP have an application that will work for the flywheel bolts? I see them listed on there website for Toyota, but not for the 5S. If they do not, what fasteners would you recommend? Also, I am thinking that I should do the rear main while I’m in there, anything else that you can think of that I should take care of while it’s apart? |
