I just downloaded the SW20 EWD - There is a Power Steering "Driver" and "ECU". The system does in fact reference the steering wheel position AND vehicle speed It looks like the system is speed based... looks like it goes to a low power (3-5 Volts) over 40 MPH and full power (11-12 Volts) below that.... The steering wheel sensor looks like it uses a pair of photo transistors which you could use to detect the speed and direction of the wheel turning. It doesn't look like there is a mechanism or system in place to try to count the these blips of light to know exact steering wheel position.. Reading the service manual I can't see any explicit test where they make sure the steering wheel sensor affects voltage to the power steering pump.. -Mike |

Well... it wouldn't be ghetto rigged if you use an embedded development board (think Rasberry Pi or Audrino) and PWM the pump like you are supposed... basically you don't want the pump hammering against a closed valve or running full nuts when it doesn't have to... Keep in mind that the MR2 one is from 1994... so you can bet your ass it is late 1980s computer technology so the control loop is going to be stupid simple.... I need to look into this more. |

Has anyone considered running an Electronic Hydraulic Power Steering Pump? I'm considering this because I want one less thing connected to the engine for removals and replacements (because race car). I guess the SW20 had one but its kinda pricey used (if you can find one). |

Pic... So... I was a little surprised to see that the bracket for the brake line is different... I already drilled out the spot welds for the bracket and I need to make up some plates for the brake lines to screw into.... Huh... So Huge... Much Wow... And the revamped google image hosting is no longer compatible with this board... |

The common accepted HP capacity of a 3SGTE bottom end in stock form is around 450 HP. You can sniff over 900 HP with a cost is no option approach to engine building... I'm not sure how practical that is since the aftermarket support for the platform has died down substantially and parts will be harder to come by. |

We did the same on Stef's car when the 3sgte was in it. Same thing - trimmed the bracing under the hood and spacers to raise the hood a bit in the back (not a fan of that look). We also pulled out the rubber trim between the hood and cowl and that made a good difference with heat escaping. Like Dustin says, the rear gap actually helps vent heat Huh... who knew? |

Did you get a Group A / WRC / homologation Edition GT-Four? That spray bar is there but... deactivated - It was only there per old Group-A homologation rules. As far as the A/C I think you might have to switch out some ECUs for that to work or create some kind of electrical interface... |

That's really nice work cleaning up the brake lines but you should see about replacing them somehow. If you're going for a museum piece they're fine but for actual use they are past their prime. The hose deteriorates from the inside, brake fluid is really nasty stuff. I have a place that makes ss braided teflon lines for the vintage bikes I work on in my spare time. It's usually less expensive than any kit sold online. I don't disagree with this sentiment. I'll send you a Private Message and we'll take this offline. -Mike |

So the sleeve welds on and the strut threads on if im understanding that right? Not quite. Orginally, you cut the OE strut as shown in the photo and then the BC coilover has a sloppy fit to the freshly cut strut and you weld it in place.. in stock form, there is no retention system above and beyond your welds. |

Did the coils come pre-assembled or did you have to cut them to accommodate the lower half of the ss? I don't mind my TRD coils but having something new wouldn't be so bad You have to cut them... The fitment was kinda Meh so I had a guy make a sleeve that created an interference fit so the fitment was nice and tight and the structural intregity was not so dependant on the welds. |

the fuse box in the engine bay has a fuse for the radio I believe ^ +1 Also - google around for a Celica EWD (electrical wiring diagram) Then you can follow the path of the wire.... more often than not - accessory power wires go through more than one fuse. Depending of the fuse type you might not pop the one you would expect (lower current). |
