I've been looking for an exhaust system for my car so that when i do my 3sgte swap, the turbo will breathe better. Where did you find the apexi n1 turbo for the 6gc? or the hks? THANKS! |

I'm dealing with this exact same debate with myself as i type this. The 5s has too high of a comp ratio to boost very much past stock 3s if even that. the work and cost it would take to build a 5s-gte hybrid engine would be astounding, and i'm not saying it wouldn't be possible or that it wouldnt be good, it's just that you're basically building an all engine car that you end up turboing in the end. if you machined all of the parts precisely to their potential and tuned the engine right, it would produce a fair amount of hp and tq. but unless you go stock engine components, the bill for the rods, pistons,(which a company called JE makes for the 5sfe block with 3sgte head) head (incl cams, gears, valvetrain etc) would be at LEAST 5grand for good parts. I've decided the best way for me to go, and that's primarily for my use of the car and budget, is to swap the whole shibang out for a 3sgte which goes in almost perfectly bc the all-trac gt4 is virtually the same car with a factory 3sgte and awd. I need to get a 5 speed manual tranny in mine also the pansy i bought it from had a 3spd auto .....*crickets chirping* *wolves howl* *tumbleweed bounces by*. it is ok until around 90mph then it almost loses all power bc the 3rd spd redlines and the engine forcibly kicks in o.d. which has almost no power since it is designed for economy and low rpm travel. i got a quote from a garage where i live to have a full 3sgte swap incl labor and all parts for $4500-$4700 depending on labor but everything i've seen heard and read says it goes in the st202 bay very easily |

How do I install my oil pressure sender that came with my oil pressure gauge? Theres the 'idiot gauge' sender that is stock for the "low oil" light already threaded in the block, to install mine do I need to replace the stock sender with the one for my gauge or does the stock sender need to stay connected in order for the engine/ecu to function properly? Thanks for your help |

that was actually the first aftermarket part I put on mine. Assuming you're going from an OEM air box intake with regular air filter, I actually gained a noticeable amount of low end torque and some mid range pwr in my 5sfe. Since it's a cone shape as opposed to a flat rectangular filter (OEM Box) it has a much higher rate of airflow (slightly leaning your a/f ratio and allowing the engine to "breathe" better). It does however add some suction sound to your engine compartment, some of which is heard in the cabin. If you dont mind more engine noise, it's a great upgrade for your engine; if you prefer a quieter engine, you can get a high flow filter for your OEM intake box which is the same size as the filter that's in there now but it is constructed of a more breathable material while still filtering out all of the air pollution particles that the stock filter does if not more; the advantage of a high flow box filter is its ability to increase airflow while keeping the same quiet intake flow of the stock intake. The cone filter and short ram intake allow a far more direct and higher flow of intake air whereas the high flow box filter increases flow (though not as much as the short ram intake) without adding intake noise. Hope this helps. java script:emoticon(':D', 'smid_4') |

I got an Apexi multimeter and fuel piggyback tuning computer for my 1994 celica with a 5sfe in it. It has the wiring in the manual for alot of models (even celica 00-up) but not for mine, i know mine has everything it needs because i've cross referenced the wiring diagrams in the apexi manual to those in my haynes guide and i found everything. The only question i have it the option of what type of air sensor/meter does my car have? it gives options like MAF and rb26det(being one connection for a specific engine) and a karmon sensor. What type does my car have and what are they called on the wiring diagram for the stock ecu? thanks alot, any info is appreciated |
