I've had that issue. I had to use my T27 Torx head with a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter and use my ratchet. Worked much better than trying to use the T27 on the screwdriver.

Yeah that's how I did it as well, the heads are a pretty hard steel, they won't strip easily.

Anyone know is there any other bolt on 7gen steering wheel? side bolts on the airbag unit are so tight, is it not possible to remove them using a screw driver? I was trying to remove the central piece and put it on my 6gen celica.

I think they are the same as the trispoke wheel on a Rav4 which is a Torx head.

Thanks everyone, I guess none of the cars I have seen pictures of so far were a WRC but I didn't expect there would be many left in Japan anyway.

small hood spoiler, riser blocks (but who doesn't have those). bulge on exhaust heat shield (see pics), extra insulation underneath ic (should see it poking out), anti-lag pot just in front of ic, fmic spray bar in inside of bumper. VIN won't necessarily be in the first 2500. Mine is 2909

Is there a FMIC in those cars or just a sprayer for one they used in racing?

I wish the wrc actually had real wrc parts. Gearing in the 'wrc' transmission isn't even close.

I would assume it had straight cut gears like most race cars, that would drive a person quite insane on the road after a short time.

Now the hydraulic hand brake, that's something I'd want.

check the vin number on the fire wall to see if your car is one of the first 2500 made.

So 0-2500 were the WRC models?

Just curious, what did the cops have to say, were they going to allow you to lay charges? This happened to a friend of mine once too but he got the car back before it was crushed or dismantled.

So, I've finally got the funds together to sell my ST184 GTS and get an ST205 either imported or buy one that's already landed. Assuming I get a '94, I'm wondering how do you tell if it's one of the 2500 WRC homologation models? Does it have a plate on the dash or something? I've seen a number of adds where people claim it's a WRC car just because it's a GT-Four. I'm not holding out for one but I'd certainly pay extra for it if I came across one.

Hey, how was your experience with Zen? Next year I'm going to be looking for a white WRC myself, I was thinking of getting one from them. Do they have their own garage with a lift? Most of these importers only have a car wash bay which makes me wonder how the hell they claim to give the car a good going over.

its not looking for resistance, but you know all that already right? smile.gif

quite on the contrary, it actually is looking for a given resistance.

And yes cheesy I understand that the resistance is constantly changing, i was just curious if anyone knew of the correct resistance when the A/F is near optimum stoichiometric efficiency.

I appreciate the help and the info so far.

Has anybody ever found any proper way that to eliminate 02 sensors on OBDI cars?

You can buy emulators on ebay. You need to create a square wave, a resistor is not going to do that, you need to build a 555 timer or other square wave oscillator circuit. Cutting both sensors out of the system seems like it's going to get you a blown motor unless you also have EGT with that setup? Relying on maps leaves you no way to account for changes. Honestly I don't know how your car would even run in anything but the conditions you tuned it for.

You may have read somewhere that you can fool the ECU with a resistor. Well you can but that is only for the heater circuit, the other two of a 4 wire O2 sensor. It stops it throwing a CEL code if the O2 sensor pre-heater is missing/faulty. It has nothing to do with the air/fuel mixture.

Poor Ken block, another disappointing outing. At least it's a short trip home for him smile.gif Havent watched the F1 yet but with all the changes I'm sure it's going to be a bunch of fumbling and general crapitude. Benie really needs to leave it the **** alone.

Looking for some 90-99 compatible GT-GTS springs. The 1.8" I have now are too low, want to try out some 1" or there abouts if anyone has a used set.

"Unintended acceleration" is one of the more popular complaints on the NHTSA site, it all kicked off for Toyota a few years ago when some guy in Texas ran his Tacoma through a store front and blamed the ghost in the machine. At the time, the F150 has many more unintended acceleration complaints on the site than the Tacoma, in spite of this the press manufactured an epidemic and Toyota initiated a huge floor mat recall. A few years later and we have a cop and his family in California killed in a loaner Lexus when the pedal sticks due to an incorrect length floor mat being installed. Toyota should have said, hang on right there, this **** isn't our fault, a dealer put a mat from an SUV in that car and that caused the crash.

Instead they recall floor mats in just about everything they make, for the second time. Fine, maybe the clips they were using were not up to snuff, it's worth noting however that no car I have owned from 1989 to 2001 even had any sort of clip to secure the floor mats and I'm still around to tell the tale. The Lexus in question does have one of those stupid push button starts, which should be abolished, but no one is talking about that. If you want a push button start like a race car, then you should have a push button kill switch like a race car.

So the US government now owns GM and suddenly there's a televised senate hearing where Toyota has to defend itself against complaints that GM has just as many of if not more. Coincidence? Farce is more like it. What does Toyota do? Caves in again and releases some sort of product update where they stick a wedge of scrap metal in your pedal to prevent a failure they know doesn't exist. Now the loonies are really coming out of the woodwork, I saw a prius driver in California on TV yesterday who claimed his pedal was stuck to the floor, as he lead police on a 90mph chase while taking to 911. Funny then, isn't it, that the pedal magically became unstuck when the police had him boxed in and he was able to stop without incident. The guy's interview was some of the worst acting I've seen come out of California since Leno claimed he had nothing to do with bumping Conan.

I just swapped a 99 rav4 wheel into my 5th gen (looks like a 98-99 celica 3 spoke). The 5th gen cruise control switch is an analog device as far as I can tell, with 4 wires on it. The Rav4 switch was a 2 wire digital. So I had to reuse my switch. It fits half decent using two of the holes already in the new wheel. Had to make a little bracket out of a peice of metal that I had but that was it. I thought I was going to be able to put the charge from my 5th gen airbag into the new wheel but it's much bigger than a 6th gen airbag like is pictured at the start of this thread, so no go. I could cut and splice the wires but I'm afraid that the trigger system is different so I decided it was safer just to leave the airbag out. I yanked the airbag light from the dash as well as the ABS light which I also have permanently disabled.

All in all it looks pretty good and the 1" smaller wheel makes for much quicker handling. Can't find the card for my camera or I would have taken pictures for all this but if anyone needs to see what I did with the cruise control switch I can get a picture of it.

I'll believe it if Danny get's prosecuted. I'm thinking this guy with the half track owed him money for working on it.

I figured it would be about 20 times cooler than an STI but it's only about 18 times cooler.

sweet. what is that littel stick beside the steering wheel.

i am tempted to live in canada...

We're not even too sure; we noticed it just before they took off from my place... they'll have to tear it apart to see what the wiring is leading to...

As for the cost; it wasn't cheap.

61XXX KM's + WRC + CANADIAN COMPLIANCE = First born child + left testicle I'm sure.

Power mirror control?

Is this still titled as a 1994 GT? Anyone looked at importing it into Canada already?

There is also a 6th gen steering wheel that looks like that. Mine came with it. The only difference is the center part where the airbag is has embossed Toyota symbol and texture that matches our interior. I have seen them in junkyards before. This should make a much easier swap I would think although I haven't tried it [obviously]. Here is a pic of my stock steering wheel:
IPB Image
Sorry it's crooked but that was the only shot of the wheel that I had. Also several other cars came with it like Supra for instance if you can find one.

Slightly OT but how come there's a GT-2 sticker on your cruise control, is that how you turn the car into attack mode? smile.gif

has anyone had the problem of their car not starting when the doors are open? i though my car wouldn't start and ended up reseting the ecu and pulling out the alarm/immobilizer checking the battery, pull apart the distributor cap, checked the spark plugs. it turned out that it was because my door was open. the car starts first time when the doors are closed. is this normal????

Does it just turn over too slowly to catch or will it not even click?

If someone has upgraded to a 3 spoke I want to buy your old wheel if it's in good shape. With or w/o cruise doesn't really matter as long as it's in good condition. My wheel is really worn through on the top and it's way too thick with a cover on it so it's ugly as hell either way. I *think* that my 5th gen airbag will fit the 6th gen wheel but I'm not sure.
