My mechanic did the cap rotor when he did the major tune up 7 months ago and I did also replaced the fuel filter. My biggest fear was that I needed to adjust the timing, but if I do the proper marking from what I read here is that I would not have to be concerned about that.

Heck, its a 1994 car, what do I have to loose, let me try

I have a slight problem of hesitation when I accelarate which my mechanic indicate that it is caused by the distributor and hence will need to be replaced (aprox $300 parts and labor). I have already tuned up the car (sparks, wires, etc). My question to you gang is, is this a job that I can tackle or it is a very big job where I will need special tools, jacks etc to replace the distributor? I've found the part for aprox $190, which makes me believe that the labor will only take 1 to 1:30 hours to complete, so I dont suspect to be a very highly skilled job to do...or am I wrong?

Your input or write ups are greatly appreciated.

Headliner replacement is pretty easy from what I hear. I think someone on here did a write up about it.

Thanks guys for your replies, it makes me feel better. I actually did supplied the clutch, but by your responses, it seems that he did charged me a fair price for the labor.

I will be ordering the TRD quickshifter soon, but I think that I can tackle that

Hi gang, I was just wondering if I was charged the correct amount for replacing my 1994 ST clutch. My mechanic, who has always worked on my car (and does very good job) charged me $540 for the labor! Does that sounds like a lot? I supplied the part and on the bill, it indicates: 6 hours @$90 per hour +tax (7% in NJ) for a grand total of $577.80. I did not ask him before hand how much it would be (my mistake), but I thought it was in the $350 to $400 range, so I was shocked when I saw $577.80. Or do you guys think that it is unreasonable to think that it would cost bet $350-$400?

And last, I want to install a TRD quickshifter, for those of you that have done the install on yours, is it something that can be done withouth the help of a mechanic? I am pretty handy (but not handy enough to change a clutch smile.gif )

I live in Central NJ.

Hi gang, I have a 94 ST liftback and my cloth seats are starting to show their age. Have anyone changed their cloth for leather? I found these covers on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-1999-T...sspagenameZWDVW

what do you think? or should I go for a professional installer (how much should I pay). I want them to look as close to factory as possible. If you have some pictures of your seats even better.

Thanks

R
