If your trying to buy a second car to make fast the celica isn't your best choice. Don't get me wrong, I love my celica because its a great looking daily driver but compared to other platforms its really expensive to make fast. If you like mitsubishi's and awd check out the 3000gt vr-4 with a 5spd tranny. My friend had one and it had a few minor issues but it was a nice looking weekend warrior. If you would like to stay with toyota (a good decison), you could find a decent mr2 in your price range. Or if you really want to be unique and you can justify the spending of A LOT of money you could buy a second celica (~$2000), do a 3sgte swap (~$4000), and plan on doing an AWD conversion in the future. Even with the AWD and some go fast goodies your celica will probably be in the low 12's in the quarter mile and you will spend $12000+ on the car. I can think of a lot of cars that you can much faster for the same money. For example? I dont really want to be another WRX kid, there are enough of those around... I have been looking at getting a second car, probably for some of the same reasons as you. I know I want RWD or AWD so that knocks out the h22 and b18 swapped hatchbacks and other hondas that I always see on craigslist (also don't want to be another civic kid lol). 240's are nice tuner cars escpecially with an sr20 under the hood. 300zx's are pretty unique and have lots of potential. An MR2 would make a great performer (my favorite choice because you have a 3sgte in a small rwd car). Or you could by a 3sgte celica have a decently fast car. But be careful about buying any swapped car because although you usually save lot of money on the initial purchase the guy before you could have half @ssed it and you'll end up with a money pit. |

I assume they're talking about the carbon doors not having the metal crash bar inside them. I'd like to have cf fenders that don't have a fiberglass backing. |

For cheap replacement parts i'd try partstrain.com or autopartswarehouse.com . If you want to upgrade to ss braided lines try searching for russell products. |

There is a nice pick and pull about an hour away from me and they have a few 6th gens. I'll probably go up there this weekend to get some parts and if i see door panels in good shape i'll pick them up for you. How much are you looking to pay? |

You want to autocross your Celica, but you also want to destroy it's structural integrity? Why not? I add sandbags to my trunk for traction when running quarters! And I put a wheely bar on my FWD drag car. Oh... no... wait... bad example BTW: I wish I had a drag car |

A temporary fix for the turns that i did cause I'm broke is drill a hole through the housing and bolt the whole thing to a tab on the bumper. It surprisingly doesn't look too bad. |

The pad can't contact the material that was drilled out. It does reduce friction which is a bad BTW. Greater Frction=Better Stopping more friction = more fade.... more fade means longer stopping distance... longer stopping distance means more front end damage... Sorry to burst your bubble but friction is the concept behind braking . You can completely eliminate friction by taking off your brake bads, then you would have no fade but it might not work out too well for you Fade is caused by your brake rotors and pads heating up and therefor having less friction which causes longer stopping distances. |

Instead of a good excuse like yours I just forgot one of those bolts at the salvage yard. I went to autozone and had them search for "rear caliper bolt" and surprisingly they had a pair in stock |

QUOTE(alltracman78 @ Mar 31, 2008 - 1:01 PM) QUOTE(6strngs @ Mar 18, 2008 - 9:34 AM) different brands of wheels are different weights too. and the weight of the wheel is really what's going to be causing all these negative things more-so than the actual size of the wheel. They won't fit on our car, but just as an example, I've picked up a 19-inch OEM infinty g35 wheel, one of the forged wheels that is actually manufactered by Rays, and I'd say that 19-inch wheel feels lighter than our stock 15 inch wheels. So, if you can afford them, I'd say get a set of forged wheels like Volks or Works. They are way lighter and way stronger, so you won't need to worry as much about bending them if you hit a pot hole or something. Even if it's lighter moving the weight out will increase it's "drag" on the engine. Hold a 30 lb weight at your chest, then hold a 25 lb one at arms lenth if that doesn't make any sense. Unless you change the rolling circumference by a lot the "stress" will be negligible. Ride quality and performance, however, WILL be affected. I suggest doing a search for wheel sizes. I've read quite a few peoples complaints about moving up to an 18" wheel. 17's can fill the fender well pretty good with a decent sidewall and they will perform much better. |

My friend is working at a sail making company and they use carbon fiber for all of their racing sails. It has a very tight weave which has to be somewhat water resistant. You can stitch carbon fiber but it would be crazy expensive to make a soft top out of it. |

I've seen a few 3sgte heads on 5sfe blocks. You would definately need a 3sge ecu and probably custom rods. Are you trying to stay all motor? |
