i'm looking to purchase a 6th gen celica hatchback, black in color, either one with 3s-gte swapped in or a manual GT ready to go for a swap.

Requirements:
1. Hatchback
2. Black
3. 5S-FE stock (GT trim)

Nice to have (more $$ for you)
1. 98-99 model year hatchback
2. black leather interior
3. manual strongly preferred

I have a stock 96 GT convertible in white available. However that only meets one of your three requirements.
It is in Virginia.

14 years ago when I was looking for a 6Gen, my wife said "hey there's a ragtop for sale in the paper". We still have it and love to go for rides.
It's still a blast to drive and we get good comments about how damn good the car looks.

I have some issues with the A/C since the rebuild the engine runs fine but I notice that when I start the A/C the revs of the car decrease instead of going up on idle. turn the A/C off and the revs return to normal. everything works fine and the A/C cools up.

don't know what could be wrong a relay or something ?

There should be a relay that increases the RPM at idle when the A/C is on.

Wow, thanks guys. One thing I would like to point out is that the new Kumho 4x is supposed to improve on all of the aspects where the ASX sucked. I don't know if there is any truth to this, but that's what they say on all the reviews I've seen. Supposedly you can get a lot more wear out of them.

I've put 5K on my 4X'S since March. They have a 40K warranty vs 30K for the ASX's.
The tires are supposed to be UHP. They're not designed for lots of miles. We have limited choices in the stock tire size.

Hey people,

I have stock 15" rims with wheel covers which sucks, but I can't do anything about it atm. I have toyo proxies 4's on there right now which are 205/55r15's v-rated. They royally suck... The goodyear's that were 195/55r15 I had when I got it were SOOOOOO much better. So anyways, I need a change. I'm looking at Michelin Pilot exalto 205/55r15's. What's your guys opinions? What has served you well? I want something with good handling and still good tread life. Is 205/55r15 the best size? Let me know! Thanks!

I've had the Kuhmo ECSTA 4X's on for 5K miles. I really like them so far. They're 205/55/15 with a 420/AA/A rating, and a limited 40k tread warranty.

I'd appreciate any information about the best convertible top canvas manufacturer.

I have a green 97 with a ratty beige convertible top and I'm looking to DIY a replacement.

Looking for the best.......I only want to do this once!

Cynthia

The fabric itself is made by Haartz, and is still available. Try to find a supplier that uses Haartz.

Can anybody recommend an adhesive for the door fabric that holds up in high interior temps?

I have used spray adhesive, but when summer rolls around, the adhesive doesn't hold. If I forget to put up my windshield shade, air temps can reach over 160 inside on a summer day.

I know I can just remove the cloth, but what can I say, I love my stock interior!

I've had success using weatherstrip adhesive.

I'm semi new to the site and Ive been reading other posts on ideas of what to do to my celi smile.gif
Unfortunately my top gave way today. I press the button and i hear nothing not even the motor trying to work. Funny thing is it worked the day before when I put the top up and down to mess with the regulators on the driver side which I need to replace as well ;x. I'm wondering if the switch or if theres a fuse that might be blown? I was using the search feature to look through old posts so i wouldnt be reposting something someone may have covered beforehand. Had no luck but found a nifty guide to changing the regulators just have to find the damn part. Well back to my top i press the button and nothing and I dont even hear the motors at all. Any ideas on what may have happened?

Edit: the rear windows still function going up and down so I'm clueless as to what's going on.

Did you check the manual/auto switch in the trunk?

My convertible top has a leak but before I deal with that, I need to know how to drain the water out of the area behind the rear seats but in front of the trunk. I can hear it sloshing around so I assume there are drain holes that are clogged up but I can't find them. The interior isn't wet and the trunk is dry. If someone could describe a specific drain location or even better, post a pic, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks.

I had a similar problem, including lots of water on the passenger side floors. Ended up taking my '96 vert to a leak specialist, because nobody, including the dealer, could figure out the leak source. The top is designed so that water will drain into the body cavities just in front of the rear wheels. There are drain holes there. They can become clogged. Check the cavities first. Also, the drain "gutter" that channels the water to the cavities from the rear window area may need to resealed. Good luck.- Fuzzy

Recent experiences with my vert has led to these findings. There's a frame "rail" that runs on both sides underneath the skirts. Along the rail is a "flange". There are three drains in each flange. The drains are oblong, approx. 1/16" wide(width of a quarter). Approx locations are at the side mirrors, door handles, and middle of the quarter windows. Supposedly there are other drain locations with removeable plugs. Please let us know how you make out with this.

Got into the car yesterday, turned the car on, got this awful groan from the back of the car! looked over and the aerial wasn't going up... got out and noticed instead of sitting flush, it was stuck at a height of 5in (10cm) and would not go down any further. I manually pulled the aerial up so i could listen to the radio while i was crusin around! Just wondering if any of you guys know where i can go to find out how to fix it myself (I've only had the car a month now, cant really afford to spend money to fix it atm). I'm thinking i can do it myself... just need to know how to go about it!!!

From your description it sounds like the nylon cable inside the mast is broken. I had the same failure.
You can attempt your own diy, search for the how to on the S2000 conversion, or buy the complete new part from Toyota. Good luck!

So i am just curious if someone could measure the fog lights for the 96-99 for lights for me?

Just need the width and length.

Thanks:)

As close as I can measure, given their shape, they are 3.125" high x 7" wide on my 96 GT ragtop.

I just bought another Celica and I have found a few things wrong with it. Everytime I have the Windshield Defrost on it turns the AC on. Then if I just switch to the defrost with the floor vents it turns off. It only comes on when the Defrost mode is on. I have tried to push the AC button on and off and nothing works. Any Ideas?

Standard procedure for any climate control system to run A/C in defrost. A/C removes moisture. That's what A/C does.
