I've got a pair that I pulled from a limited edition that I found in a junk yard. They are in ok shape, just the color faded. Let me know if you are interested.

Spring correctly aligned in the seat? Spring seat insulators correctly aligned with the seat and spring? Strut mount correctly aligned when installed?

I generally suggest torquing the strut rod bolt once the car is back on the ground, to allow you to bounce the suspension a few times to normalize the position and height. If I recall correctly, the strut rod nut only requires 36 ft-lb of force.

Need to double check spring alignment and how its sitting but from memory they are in there just fine. Strut mount went in fine, all three bolts came through correctly and none taller than the other. No issues fitting the strut mount holes on the knuckle, no different than the other side.

One thing i did notice was the top part of the spring and mount have no real mating area, if its off anywhere it would be there i think. The rear strut mounts have no guide or insulator for the top on the rear, just spring to mount, it must be this thats causing issue.

Thanks for the ideas, looks like ill be getting back under the ol girl wink.gif

I just did my ST rear struts not too long ago and I had the same issue. It turns out I was missing a washer like thing on one of the struts. Its like a spacer or something. It was about and inch in height and went on before the center nut. I remember being able to just remove the center nut while it was still installed in the car, add the spacer thing and it was good to go. Not sure if this is the same thing you are experiencing but worth a look.

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a few items to finish up my Celica project. Let me know if you have the part(s) I need or if you can direct me where to find them. Here's the list:

  • front Toyota emblem(goes on the front bumper)
  • a pair of sun visors will all hardware(screws and latches),
  • the far back wall trunk plastic from a hatchback(this is the one that covers the trunk latch and tail light)
  • GT-four RH turn signal
  • a stock battery tie down
  • the plastic clip to hold the hood prop
  • the spare tire fiberboard cover
  • Wheel liner plastics (both sides)
  • Privacy cover for the hatch

I would also be interested in a pair of door panels if someone has them in really good condition.

Thanks

Thanks Rivs. Hopefully getting out to the car today to finish up. I remember the opening for the wires to be pretty small. How do you get the wires/connector out through it?

Once you remove the rubber grommet, the hole is big enough for the wire and connector.

Yeah you'll be able to pull the whole light out. Just the rubber grommets on the wire will be left. I believe the connector was white.

Is there a way to disconnect all the bulbs further back in the wiring so I can pop them all into the tail light itself away from the car, and then reconnect the wire? Maybe a dumb question, but it's kind of tricky trying to hold the actual tail light unit while trying to twist all the bulbs in. I did not see an area where all the wire came into one lead for me to disconnect, but thought I would see if anyone knew. Thanks

Yeah, the main plug for each light is in the trunk. It's about 6 inches from where it goes into the car. It's is pretty easy to get to. You just need to remove some of the trunk plastics.

What kind of materials are you using for this? It looks amazing, never would've guessed it was rolled on. I may need to test this process on my GT. body is in decent shape, def not as bad off as yours was but the paint on mine has gone to crap. Nice work man!

I just used Rustoleum Paint, foam rollers, mineral spirits and lots of sand paper! I bought most of it at Home Depot.

Here is the video I used to learn from: Paint a car with Rustoleum

The only big change I did was you don't have to use a hair dryer. The little bubbles pop on their own.

i've seriously contemplated doing this but seeing as i live in a severely WINDY and DUSTY place it might not fare too well, or at least there would have to much more critical wet sanding LOL biggrin.gif

LOL yeah I have wet sanded for hours! I could only imagine in a very dusty environment. The wind isn't really an issue unless it's blowing crap into the paint.

Looks preety effin sweet! smile.gif

Is it a ~75/25 ratio? I've seen on youtube?

Yeah it's close to that. As you do it you kinda get a feel for how much mineral spirits to mix in. You could do 100% paint, but it wont auto level and will take forever to dry. The only downside of the paint is that it takes a long time to fully cure. It is dry enough to handle after a day or so. But needs to be left out in the sun for like a week or more before final sanding and buffing.

i wish i can one day do that rear disc brake conversion ... Good Job !

Thanks man! It wasn't that expensive or that hard to do. The hardest part was the e-brake cable, only because you have to get under the car and the exhaust is in the way.

Hey guys,

I'm in need of some cheap tires. Mine will no longer hold a bead. If anyone in the New England area has some stock rims & tires or just tires(205/55/r15) I would be happy to pick them up. They don't need to be anything special just looking for something relatively cheap.

Thanks,

You have to disconnect the cables from under the hood.

It's in the stickies: Removing AC Controls

Since you are going to be selling these, there's no chance for you to share the circuit I presume? smile.gif

I'd rather not share the circuit as it will be my own design. I also plan on making custom boards so I'm not sure it would help much anyway. There are already similar circuit designs online if you would like to make your own.

I'm definitely interested. The expansion ports sound like a nice touch. How much would just the controller cost?

Right now, building one by hand costs about $10-15 in parts but takes a while to build. I hope to be able to sell just the controller for $15-20.

Hey guys,

I have been working on getting the dome lights to slowly fade like on new cars. I got a design that I am happy with and I wondered if others might want the same thing. The basic idea is that dome light would be modified to hold the controller and the bulb replaced with leds. I'm also thinking that I would want expansion ports so that I can add led strips under the dash, and in the rear.

I could offer my services to modify your dome or even charge like a core fee and get some spares from the junkyard. I could just sell the controller too if people would rather that.

If you are interested let me know and I will get some pricing and samples.

Here is the schematic of the Fog Light assembly.
Pic
I was wondering what should I modify to have control of the foglights whenever the car is on almost like a second pair of headlights. I want to be able to turn the fogs on without having to have the headlights on. My guess is I would splice a wire from the ignition switch to where the headlight is attached at the relay. Did anyone here do this modification before?

I did a similar mod, except I have mine turn on with the parking lights. Yes, you would splice a a wire that is live in run to the headlight terminal on the relay. I would be sure to cut the headlight lead as you don't want power to back feed into the run wire from the headlights. This could cause and issue if you turn the headlights on while the car is off!

So to clarify: cut the wire from the headlights to relay. Splice live when in run wire(acc) to old headlight connection on the relay.

Hi,

I have had my celica for about 6 months now. I have noticed all my pants have wear on them where my wallet is located. I have never had this problem before with any car or any pants. I am guessing it is something to do with the way I sit down on the seat or some odd way the seat rubs while I am driving.

I may swap seats or get some kind of seat cover... the seats are not the cloth type.

Ha, the SAME thing happens to me too! I thought maybe there was something sharp catching my pants but I could find any thing. So far I have ripped 3 pairs of pants!
