yes it was that fuse.the remanufactured alternator cover on the side was making contact with the power in screw, grounding it. Error of remanufactured or maybe it got bent in on delivery travel. So that was fix ,everything is working and charge is normal , but the battery warning light stays on. You probably shorted the alternator too. The charging system is not working. Try a different alternator. |

I’m having the same problem:change the alternator, turn car on , to check , I turn the head lights on ,turn radio on and put the time on the clock, then every power inside turn off; the wipers and taillights no working nor the power look .Only thing with power is the headlights ,door lights and hazards lights. ALL fuse check good, check alternator and battery wire all normal. At least turns on but it donot have brake or signal lights I'd suggest you check the 100amp fuse. It is on the main fusebox on driver side bay. You'd have to unscrew the box because the 100amp fuse is screwed in. Back then, I accidentally shorted the system while changing the alternator. The car will start but not lights, no electricals. |

Check under the seat if there's a module. If it does, you just need the remote then. |

Have only 116K miles on original engine and transmission. Questions to high mileage Celicas: How many have original fuel pumps? If not, what was the mileage when replaced! How about timeing belt - when did you replace it? Thanks..Celicalibre I haven't replaced my fuel pumps. For the timing belt, I did it 2x since I drive a lot, every 90K miles. _______________________________________ NICS -- did you ever have to clean out the front catalytic converter closest to the engine? I had to gut out a previous Celica as it became clogged at 160K miles. Have you had to do any other major repairs with your high mileage? Curious as I intend to keep my pristine convertible forever more! Thx...Celicalbre No, nothing of that sort. Never touched the cats. Only heard that issue happening is on the 1zzfe mr2 spyders. The only thing that I had a bad experience is that the valve cover gasket went bad, oil got into the spark plugs and had a misfire. After fixing that, everything was good. Main things that I did was change oil every 3k, castrol gtx high mileage. Seafoam every 6 months and change the coolant every 2 years. Warm up the engine on very cold days at least for 5 minutes. I hope this helps |

Use synthetic, if it leaks after it's because things were in bad shape anyway and were going to leak anyway. Change the fluids, not doing so is more harmful. Alright, use synthetic noted. What about the other fluids? Use the recommended in the manual or is there something better? Like what Bitter said, synthetic is better but stick to recommended OCI. Taken from Mobil1: Mobil 1 High Mileage - synthetic If you’re unsure about the maintenance history of your vehicle, then Mobil 1™ High Mileage synthetic motor oil is the best choice. Why? This high mileage oil contains a higher base oil viscosity to help reduce leaks and provide better high temperature protection. Mobil 1 High Mileage also provides unsurpassed wear protection of critical engine components. Plus, if your engine contains excessive sludge deposits due to less-than-adequate maintenance practices, this high mileage oil can help by reducing this sludge. Mobil Super High Mileage - synthetic blend If you know your vehicle has received regular oil changes at the manufacturer’s suggested intervals, then Mobil Super™ High Mileage conventional motor oil is a great choice. Why? This high mileage oil contains seal conditioners to help prevent leaks and control oil consumption. Keeping your vehicle well maintained and running smoothly is the key to a longer lasting engine. And as drivers hang on to their aging cars and trucks, perhaps much longer than originally planned, it becomes even more important to give them the care they need. Your older engine might require you to spend more time in the driveway with your hood propped up, but your careful attention can add many more miles to your vehicle’s life, even well into its senior years. I've been using Castrol High Mileage gtx (synthetic blend), OCI at 4k miles with seafoam treatment - engine at 338K miles Oh and I just found out that when I had my axles replaced, my tranny has been running on 10w-30 until now. I haven't bothered to change it back to 75w-90 - don't do this |

I replaced mine by a shop 4 months ago and they already crapped out twice. No idea where they got the part but at least they replaced it under warranty. This will be the 3rd replacement for this year and I'd like to get it right this time before it snows. I've read mixed reviews about Cardone but I guess they work okay on our cars based on you guys' feedback. Anyway, does anybody have experience with raxles? They are pricey but lots of good reviews from other cars. |
