I had pretty much forgotten about this car but it popped into my head the other day so I figured I’d poke around on here to see what became of it and man, Slavie does not disappoint! This thread is awesome!

I’m glad you’re putting the car to good use Slavie! Much better than any other life it would’ve of had. That little Celica was always fun to bang gears in, even if it wasn’t the fastest car, it was just so enjoyable to drive.

Keep it up! And thank you for posting the vids too!

BUMP FROM THE GRAVE

Sorry guys, I got caught up with changing jobs and put getting rid of the car on the back burner. Seeing how warm weather is upon us though, I need this thing gone! Looks like I may be moving soon so I need this thing gone, I don't really have the time to fix it myself or part it out.

I just replied to a bunch of old PMs I got previously about selling the car as a whole but still kind of first come first serve.

Again, sorry for dipping out before but I will check this forum daily for PMs over the next 30 days.
After that, probably headed to the local yard.

Sorry for the delay guys, waiting to see if I can sell the car whole before parting out as I really don't have the time/means to currently.
If I do part it out, I have the order in which everyone has claim to certain parts, just bare with me please.

Thank you

CAR SOLD

Hey guys,

This was an older car of mine that I pictured fixing and using as a 2nd vehicle but have since lost interest.

Current state of the car - it does run, I just stopped driving it because the tranny started making a rotational clunking noise when driving. It's been sitting about 2 years.
It has a new stage 1 south bend clutch in it with less then ~1,000 miles on it.
The car has 235,xxx miles on it, engine only has about 100k though, was swapped out when i bought the vehicle.

At the very least, the car is going to need the tranny issue addressed, new brakes/rotors and airbags reinstalled(I have them and their senors).

I have a lot of extra junk laying around for this car and will throw it all in, I'm looking for a flat $500 for everything, pretty much near what a junkyard would give me for it.
If no one buys it as a whole, I'll just part out a few pieces then junkyard the rest.

Have a clean title ready and in hand.

Big bump!

I still have everything that's listed(minus the JDM tails)!

Feel free to offer my anything for the stuff that is not attached to the car! If any of it is not gone within the next month, I'll probably be making a trip to the dump with it!

The car is still sitting as it is but I have plans to take it apart again next month to fix the trans finally, however feel free to offer for that as well.

Bringing this problem back from the dead. Going to tear the car apart soon and see whats going on inside.
I want to fix the car so I have something to drive around while I install stage 3 parts on my WRX.

As far as prices just offer me what you feel is fair and we'll go from there. Trying to get rid of everything within the next month or two so to a point, best offers will win but on a first come first server basis as well.

I apologies ahead of time for the lack of description. I will add detail to this as soon as I have time. For the most part I'm not going to be shipping out any of the big items so most of it will be local pickup in Maryland if you are interested.

The main thing is I'm selling my 1996 Celica GT, it's a 5 speed manual. The body of the car has ~230,000 miles on it while the motor has about ~110,00 on it. The car's clutch went out and i JUST installed a new stage 1 southbend clutch just under a 1,000 miles ago. The car started having this rotational knocking sound coming from the trans around the 700 mile mark after installing the new clutch. The noise gets faster the faster you drive, I think it's a bearing inside of the trans that is going out(no, it has nothing to do with the throw-out bearing). The car does drive(at least it did 6 months ago when i stopped using it). If i needed a second car i would just drop the trans again and address the issue but i really have no need for a second vehicle plus nor do i have the time to work on it. I did poly motor mounts and new motor mounts when i did the trans. The interstate battery in the car has a lifetime warranty on it, i have the receipt for it.
Car does leak some oil out of the back side of the engine...I usually added about half a quart of oil between oil changes. I think it's the gasket I've just never had the time to investigation.

The sound system you see in the car will probably be coming out unless buyer wants....same with the JDM high beams, will be replaced with stock high beams. I have the spoiler off because i was switching it out with another but it can be included. The car does need a new rear right corner panel....as well as a new passenger door(look at picture of the car's right side) and paint of course! Had a big truck backup into me and hit me with his tow hook. The car has been crashed before and the airbags went off when. The driver airbag is just on there, not actually hooked up...same with the passenger airbag. I have both the airbags and new front airbags senors as well that can be included with the car.

The sunroof does leak, BUT only when it rains very hard. I think it's just from the sunroof drains being clogged. But that's the reason you see the white cover on top the car

I know someone is going to ask about the vis hood....it's staying with the car for now, it has a lot of faded areas and could use a sand and reclear.

I do NOT want to part out the car, except for the highbeams and soundsystem.

feel free to ask me any questions you may have, I'll update this with more details when i can. most of the stuff in the pictures is just dirty, not so much banged up.

Thanks guys, but as for right now I'm stalling on this I decided.

I ended up going out and buying a Impreza WRX for the time being as my DD.
I probably wont do the celica's tranny until this upcoming summer.

True, but if that is the case, I would think the male end chewed up the female end, which would mean the trans has to come out anyways

Yea the noise is there if I manual turn the wheels by hand, only if i turn them really fast though, which is probably equal to only 7-10mph roughly.

The driver side axles has play up and down it almost seems, like its not fully clipped in but I remember clipping it in fully when installing it and the car drove fine for awhile like i said.

Only thing that seems not normal to me is when I rotate one wheel, it takes a good 2-3 inches of turning before the transmission catches it and turns the other wheel.
Is that normal?

Sorry and forgive me, I'm rather in a rush and couldn't located which trans this is exactly.
But I'm having issues with my car and am trying to replace the transmission soon. The issue

Just wondering if anyone local has a stock trans they be willing to let go for cheap!

I'm in Maryland, Harford county, Abingdon Area, but of course I'd be willing to travel an hour or two to pick one up.

Thanks!

Okay, so after replacing my clutch, Which can be seen here

I've having yet ANOTHER transmission issue i believe.
Everything worked great after doing the clutch, until about a little over 1,000 miles after the install.

When moving, I'm hearing this rotational thumping sound from the axles is sounds like.
Over the course of 3-4 days it got so bad i took the car off the road and jacked it up. The sound comes directly from where the axles connect into the transmission. Its directly related to speed too....the faster the car goes, the faster the thumping. So it doesn't matter if I'm in gear or not, it's all about the present of speed and how fast they are rotating.

My questions is, any ideas what could be going on inside of there?
I'm curious cause I'll only have 1 morning to take it apart and put it back together so I'm wondering if I should just get another stock trans to throw in or if anyone has an idea of what part could be going out.
My mechanic friend's boss said he thinks is could be a trans support bearing?

I have a '96 gt 5sfe 5speed...anyone got a trans near maryland for me? haha

Thanks ahead of time for the info!

yeah truth is its really only good for title info and if the car was in an accident involved with the police. All police reports are suppose to copy down VINs of any vehicle involved and report to the MVA.
