Just sold for $9,000.

I wasn't going to IU. I lived in Bloomington and worked in Columbus for several years. I finally moved to Columbus.

Bloomington from Columbus isn't that far.... were u coming home everyday or what? 10k is realllllly steep IMO

Its 45 miles each way. So 90 miles 5 days a week. It ads up. 99 Convertibles with similar mileage are selling form 8K to 12K on e-bay and auto trader, so I priced it in the middle. I also just spend $600 on new tires, $370 on a new rear view mirror and the car looks and performs like its brand new. This price is also with the $2,000 sound system.

Yay! It worked. The light has not come back on, so just cleanign the carbon out of the valve fixed it.

Thanks! I took it to autozone and they plugged their thing in and it said “EGR valve has insufficient flow.” The guy there had no idea what it meant. I looked it up and its the valve that’s lets exhaust back into the intake manifold as needed. I took the valve off and it was stuck shut with carbon, I opened it and it opens and closes now with the vacuum. The engine check light is still on. Does it go off automatically or does it need to be reset after the repair is made?

Autozone sells them for $60, I think. It's the right port for an OBD-II port, are you checking the dash or under the hood.

I was checking the port under the hood. Is there one under the dash?

Thanks, I’ll get the one at AutoZone.

Hello All,

Does any one know of a good diagnostic tool to tell if anything is wrong with a Celica engine? My wife’s Acura’s engine check light came on and I found this tool:

http://216.65.58.60/Merchant2/merchant.mvc...egory_Code=CODE

It says it will work on any car 96 and newer (I have a 99).

The port in the picture doesn’t seem to match the diagnostic port on my engine and I am not going to buy it unless we can use it on both cars. Does any one know if it will work on the Celica? I could not find the OBT II certified stamp on any of my Celica’s tags. Does any one know of a tool that can diagnose a Celica?

Thanks!!!

I was at a friends and my Celica and his 86 Supra were parked in the driveway and some salesman showed up selling some super cleaning fluid and said nice Mustang and Vette. We still don’t know which one he thought was which but he was very embarrassed when we told him what they were. He didn’t make a sale to us either. What an idiot.

I have one of those X shaped tire irons and it first perfectly between my box and the edge of the trunk. I just wedge it in place and there is no moving.

I lost my rubber thing and I ended up buying some weather stripping at an auto store. It comes in a big role and it’s stick on one side. I cut a small piece and wrapped it around the sensor base. Its been holding for 2 years now.

The dealership didn’t carry cap, rotor, or fuel filter. They said my 99 is too old to keep parts in stock. They can order if I pay shipping.

I found an Auto Zone and bought a cap and rotor, but they look like the worst quality parts I’ve ever seen. I should return them and go to pep boys.

How often should I replace the fuel filter? I’m at 98,000 miles and on my original.

I just ordered son Nology Hot Wires, they called me on the phone to confirm they would fit in my car. I have heard good things about them.

Does anyone know where to get a cap and rotor? I only have a Pep Boys in town and don’t really trust them. If there is a website that has ones let me know.

As far as plugs, I have always heard that iridium and platinum and all of those fancy ones are a waste. They are just coated copper and they corrode faster because they are coated. If you can find silver plugs, they are the best conductor and corrode much slower. I wonder if anyone makes silver rotors and caps?

Well I took it to the dealer and they said it was dead. Which could mean that it might not actually be dead and just have other problems. I will ask them to check this first, but if they still say its dead I might just take it somewhere else.

Does anyone know what a new/used starter would sell for and what I could expect to pay in labor to have it replaced?

Thanks!
