Looks like 9000 well spent if you like fords lol

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. I really just wanted a car that would run 12's and my budget was about 8k for initial purchase and I had to add another grand after purchase for the dyno tunes, and small maintenance stuff it needed.

I do like fords but I have a lot of respect for any well-built car, import or domestic. What I really want next is a Ls2 powered 05-06 Pontiac Gto, but that wont happen anytime soon. And it would be a H/C/I setup.

I wish it was more feasible to make a US version awd celica or I probly would have done a 5sfte, but I'm not a big fan of fwd.

Thanks for the responses, I figured I'd just get flamed on a Celica site haha.

9 grand and you only hit 370HP? for 9 grand i could make your celica make 500

Haha I could have hit more than 370hp if I wanted to, but its my daily driver and 370 is plenty. Besides I dislike fwd vehicles and no offense but Celicas dont get nearly the amount of chicks that a Cobra does. I mean when people ask me what car I drive and I reply a Cobra, I get mad attention, not so much in a celica. And I highly doubt you can purchase a Celica and mod it to reliably and be a pleasant daily driver while making 500fwhp for 9k, especially not the US version, maybe in a gt4... But thanks for your critical remarks, I can take it lol.

Edit: I gotta add that my cobra passes emissions and has zero check engine codes, which I dont think a 500hp celica can say.

Well I started with a 94 celica gt coupe back when I was 17 yrs old. I liked it, and did a few small mods to it, but I realized I had caught the speed bug and my auto 5sfe wasn't gonna get me there. I next went to a 98 mustang gt automatic when I was 19 yrs old. This was much faster, but I was able to sell it for a profit so I did. Next I was still short on my budget for a fast car, so I bought a 2001 ford ranger 4.0 v6 automatic. I was able to flip it for a nice profit, and so I was ready to find a fast car. I ended up with a 96 mustang cobra 5 speed, kenne bell supercharged, meth injected, many mods. I had to fix a lot of things wrong with the car and have it dyno tuned twice and with a total of 9000$ invested I hit 370rwhp. But really my love of cars goes back to my old 94 celica gt. I started learning about cars with it and have made it a long way since the celica. I had wanted to go with a 5sfte turbo setup with my 94 celica gt, but I couldn't afford it at 19, now I'm 22 and pretty happy with my cobra.

I just wanted to share my vehicular progression since this is the forum that got me started with modding cars. Thanks for reading. Here are a few links to some vids of my cobra. If you would like to see a youtube vid of my cobra please copy and paste this into your browser. Thanks

I had my 6gc for almost 3 years, and loved it when I had it. But I got a killer deal on a 98 Mustang GT so I sold my sixth gen. My life after 6gc consists of realizing what a slow slug stock 5sfe's are. My stang is also slow in comparison with most sporst cars, but the celi is a sloth. When I had the celica I thought it was fast though lol. I guess I just realized rwd owns fwd all day and my stang has been much more reliable than my celica ever was. I still lurk here on 6gc.net, because I truly did love my celica, it also saddens me how bad this site has gotten in terms of the owner only updating the home page a couple times a year. PS-flame away on my choice to get a non-import, im completely satisfied with my new post celica car!

Yeah man its all good I agree it has lots of potential, and I coudn't pass up a trade for it, I know the previous owner and it was well taken care of. Stock its rated at a 15 sec quarter mile, and that is what I wanted in a car and I will eventually add gears and oher basics to make it even quicker. Really I am surprised that so far Ive averaged 20 mpg city so I am quite pleased. That and insurance are the biggest cons to the swap for me. I will always miss the celica though, it is a great car in its own ways.

Yeah well here's a pic of my new ride, and yes fastbird, in comparison to most other v8 domestics it is slow, but I love all the aftermarket support. edit: this is a pic of it dirty after a 4 hour drive through the snow to get it home

Well guys I just want to say bye and thanks.
I got an offer to do basically a straight up trade for my 94 celica gt for a 98 mustang gt so i couldn't pass it up. I love my celica but I wanted something quicker so this works for me. I will say one thing though my celica gt deffinetely handles better in stock form lol. However i love the straight line speed of the mustang. Thanks everyone for a great celica site theres a lot of info on this site and yall are some helpful people. see ya!

Thanks for the replies. I am planning a exhaust using a 2.5 in/out high flow cat, and 2.5 straight pipes into a straight through flow 2.5 muffler. Hopefully this will lower my times.

Hey everybody, I have had my 94 celica gt for about a year and have been ok with its acceleration, but I have been researching other cars (and trucks lol) and realizing that it is fairly slow in comparison. I love the way our cars handle and maybe that is all they are good for. I was wondering what it takes for our cars to hit mid 15 runs. I have read all the stickees and have researched 6gc's pretty thoroughly. It seems that stock my Gt should run around a 17 second run, but bolt ons (intake and exhaust) do not greatly reduce perforance in our cars. Without going forced induction or a swap will an intake and exhaust get me in the mid 15 range. Is there anyone on here that consistantly hits these numbers and isn't using forced induction or swapped. I currently just have a intake and am wondering if spending the money on a exhaust is worth it.

Just to add my two cents: the car with the two post spoiler in the first picture that ST Cali posted is actually my coupe, and it had that spoiler on it when I bought the car used this january. I believe it is a stock two post spoiler from our gen. hatchback celica. My spoiler was apparently modded to make it fit and there are holes cut through the trunk lid that are only visible when opening the trunk. From the outside it is very hard to tell that the spoiler isnt stock. I really like the clean look of my spoiler more than the stock coupe spoiler. As the spoiler was already on the car when I bought it, I have no idea how hard it would be to put a hatchback spoiler on a coupe.

Thanks for all of the replies. I think now I should go with a 2.5 setup not 2.25. I also think it should be under the rear axel. Does anyone have advice about where to start the 2.5 pipes? after the flex pipe maybe? Also what differences would there be without a resonator.

Hi, I am new to the site and I have had my 94 gt since january. I enjoy the site a lot. I have searched the forums about this but stilll have a few questions. I have a ebay cai (mostly for the sound as I dont know if it helps performance much), but I want to try something else to improve the cars performance. My celica has 112k miles on it and I cant afford to turbo. I have read about different members exhaust setups and I think I want a 2.25 with resonator and magnaflow muffler. I am graduating at the end of may and will have some cash to spend. Can anyone tell me about the performance to be gained from this exhaust set up or if there is something else i can do to the car that will be a better use of money(possibly ebay headers?). The car is my daily driver so it has to pass emissions. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks
