Hi,
Looks good to me. Any chance of putting some info on the page with the car (ie., user name, mods, etc)? That would be nice so that those of us whose celis aren't quite there yet can get ideas from the pics of mods they'd like for their cars, (particularly exterior mods). Thanks and keep up the good work.

Aaah yes..I have the same problem and was told that it is the "valet feature". Apparently, the lock on the hatch is set up so that you can lock it and give someone else the key to get in & start the car but they can't open the hatch. I'd like to meet the genius that designed this because he obviously didn't think about just putting down the back seats. Anyhow, I have the same problem. I can't even open it with the master key or the hatch release switch anymore. The only solution I could think of was to replace the lock cylinder with a "regular" one. Hope that helps you somehow.

Is the Solara the only one that has the e-153? I was thinking about swapping my auto to a stick too. I have the 7afe but wasn't sure what trannys I could use either.

Hi ActionClaw,
I have the same car. I have a Haynes manual. It's not the greatest and leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the electrical department. As far as reference manuals, the best thing I can recommend are the Toyota Service manuals. There is an Electrical manual (usually around $45) and a two volume set that covers the chassis and engine (generally about $120 for both). I know they are a little pricey but are good resources. You can usually find them (sometimes for a great price), on E-bay or Amazon. Other than that, the best suggestion I can give you is to post questions and pictures (if possible) on here. Many of the folks on here will give you good advice and ideas. When in doubt, you can always try the service department at your local Toyota dealer. Good luck with your car and be sure to dig around the whole site. There is some very good info on here and some of it may answer your questions.

Welcome,
The best advice I can give you is to take a few days and scour this site. You will find good ideas in the forums. Also check out the parts list, how-to's, and tech articles sections. Then, when you are done with that, check out celicatech.com, toyotacelicaonline.com, yotarepair.com/celica.html, and just do a search using your preferred search engine. That will give you plenty of ideas to digest. Best of all, take your time and do what you like...not what's popular now (ie; JDM this or that, etc.). In the end, you'll be happier with the car. I've only had mine for about a month and have been steadily plugging away. It takes time and can be frustrating trying to find some of the items you would like for a reasonable price, if at all. Good luck and happy hunting.

Thanks for the info (and the welcome). It's nice to still be called a kid at 44. LOL. I figured that it would be some work to convert. I don't have a problem with that. I am just trying to get some ideas to make the front end look a little more agressive. The fact that nobody seems to make aftermarket headlights for us doesn't help much and why did they make these things with tabs that seem to get broken so easily? (Ok, enough whining for now.)

I'm going through the car to get all the standard mechanicals taken care of first. After that I want to get new shoes, an Injen intake, a head unit (any head unit at this point), either new seats or good seat covers, paint some of the interior, a header & new exhaust, floor mats, better mirrors, window tint, a different rear spoiler, a new paint job, add 2 more gauges (oil pressure & tbd), and eventually do an engine swap and add a manual tranny. Oh, I forgot, new shocks & struts. The struts on it now are monroe sensatracs but I don't know what the shocks are. Actually, I have more items on the "wish list" but I think you get the point.

Hey folks, I'm back. I can't believe how tough it is to find low beam assemblies that aren't busted for a decent price. Ouch! I did finally get one though. It looks like a real pain in the a$$ to get the bumper cover off to put the new light in. I'm going to work on that and wiring up the plugs for the stereo tomorrow. I have posted pictures on my "new ride" on my profile. Yes, it needs work.
Does anybody know if you can swap out the headlights, hood, & front bumper cover with a supra? I was curious because they look the same to me except for those items. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Take a look at the pics and let me know if you have any other ideas. (I know tires & rims will come up.) I already blew one of the crappy tires out driving to work. I think I'm going to go to 15" but not sure how wide I can go. More on that later.

You have no idea how much work ull get urself into. Ask playr, he knows.

Are you referring to swapping out with a supra? Thanks.

Hi,
I know I'm a FNG but I wondered if admin could put up a forum for vendor web sites (like the stickys) so that people could post the sites for places that have parts. It would be a great help for us newbies to track down parts. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Do you have the passenger side low beam assembly? If so, how much do you want for it and would you be willing to ship it to me in Waverly, NY? I would gladly pay the shipping and packaging. Thanks.

MikeE - Thanks. I was trying to figure out what the engine & chassis were. It is a 7AFE and I found out the chassis is an AT200.

I have a 95 hatchback with the 1.8. Can you tell me if any other toyota model parts can be interchanged on this car? How about any other year celicas? Like, will the front fenders, hood, and grill fit my car or are they a different size? Thanks.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to pass on the prjectors.
D-man, I'm just going with the stock lights for now. I have to do a little "homework" before I change them out.

I did get the car Friday. I will post pics soon. My first few issues to deal ith are:
broken low-beam lens on passenger side
hatch doesn't open
cruise comes on but won't work
it's got 175r70-14's on it and it sits way too low (I need to be practical because I'm going to have to drive this in the winter too.)
Last but not least, the previous owner removed the stereo ad left me with just a bundle of wires (no plug)

Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Check out msc.com. They sell machine tools including taps. They should have a phone number or e-mail address on the site. If you can't find it there, you probably won't find it. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. On the JDM projectors, are they just bulbs or are they the whole headlight assembly? Thanks.

Hi,
I'm a newbie here and am getting a 95 St Friday. The question I have is, does anybody know of different headlight assemblies I can use (with a little modification) to give the car a little more masculinity? BTW, I like the curren makeovers but am not looking to do that much in the way of changes just yet. Thanks for any help you can give.

Tim
