if the car didn't have any issues before the clutch change then I would say check the clutch pedal switch, it may need adjusting

A bit of an update, so the insurance pretty much took care of my car's cost for me, giving me a bit over what KBB value was so i was happy with that, the down side was they had to take the car which if any of you know how they handle total loss car's is they basically scrap them for parts to recover some of there money, It makes me cringe to think about my celica being taken apart at some junk yard but thats just the way it goes. If i had wanted to buy it back for the parts they would have taken a pretty large amount from the settlement funds. Plus to top it off i don't have the time right now between school and work to take apart my car and salvage whatever i could have. Well needless to say I've already got a new car, sadly its not a 6gc but I think i'll grow to like it

She's not in the best of conditions I won't lie, I still got a lot of work before she's up to the same level as my old Celica but she'll get there.

Thanks guys and yeah it was pretty scary, there were no tire screeching noises before i was hit and the women who hit me said she doen't remember anything so I'm just assuming she wasn't paying attention and plowed into me at full speed which was 40-45 mph. But yeah I'm ok just a nasty looking bump on my forehead and bruises on my arm. Hopefully the insurance comes through sooner rather than later.

Well fellow 6gc memebers its been a good run but sadly my Celica is dead, pictures speak a 1000 words so have a look

I got rear ended waiting to make a left hand turn, there are some injuries but nothing life threatening. I don't know what I'll do with her now, the engine and front end are pretty much intact but sadly she's not fixable at this point, I might look into a new celica but that'll have to wait for now, but depending on what happens she's always been a good car and never once let me down, its a sad parting but one i'll have to live with, thanks for all the support along the way guys, hopefully I'll still be on here

I wasn't sure of the operating temp either because i noticed mine runs around 190-200 so i wasn't sure if that was normal but seeing this puts my mind at ease

thats a great find, I would just say get a junkyard or used engine and swap it in, generally rebuilding a seized engine isn't worth it, most likely the cylinder walls have massive amounts of scouring if they're not cracked

it's probably been said somewhere on this forum but i'll show you why the camshafts won't work

As you can see there are 2 slave cam gears connected near the middle of the shaft and there is only one cam gear so you can't adjust it

And here's pic i'm borrowing from someone on this forum of a general comparison of the camshafts between a 5sfe head and a 3sge/gte head, notice the 2 post for cam gears where the 5s only has one and the slave cam gears on the 5s also a reason you can't use 3sge/gte camshafts

so I decided to run my scanner on my car as I do every so often, CEL wasn't on but a code was stored, P0770 say's that a shift solenoid is malfunctioning but since the MIL isn't on that would mean it only happened for a moment and didn't see it as a problem to turn the CEL but I have noticed a few times my car felt like it slipped at freeway speed, as if power wasn't getting to the wheels but only for a moment, So i checked the ATF levels on a leveled surface and they're good so any ideas?

When you check your fluid, you are warming the engine up to normal temps and shifting through the gears and then checking (while running)? Cause unless you serviced it, fluid dosent magically increase.
If you are having leaks clean up the area to see where the leaks are coming from. There are only a few places it could be leaking from.

Yeah I understand, but last time i serviced it I made sure it was to proper levels, I have a hunch that when I took my car to this shop to have the CV axles replaced they saw fluid leaking from the differential but didnt know that the differential and the transmission case are seperated fluids so I'm guessing maybe they had put some in, I'm kinda tempted to check to see if my differential is up to proper levels now too

So i recently checked my transmission fluid thinking it might have been low because ive been getting some leaks around the transmission pan and on the differential area so I checked my fluid levels (on level ground while running) and they are slightly above the max mark I'd say about 3mm or so is this any reason to be alarmed?

No I usually run with my auto-scanner hooked up and it lets me know if I have any misfires, plus my mpg seems pretty normal around 27 combined

So my car has been starting a little rougher than usual and since I had a smog test at a star station coming up (I live in CA) I decided to do a tune up, well to my surprise when I pulled the plugs they all looked like they had rust on the tips aren't plugs suppose to normally have a whitish coloration after being used for awhile, these plugs are about a year old I would say, anyone know what can cause them to look like this

I like Simple green, it works effectively enough at cleaning oil and grease, as for dirt water works just fine, I just make sure to cover any electricals and I use plenty of Di-electric grease in the plug boots to make sure my spark plugs don't get drowned in water just in case water gets through

So for the longest time I kept trying to find a new armrest because mine was tearing at the top

All the armrest I came across at the junkyard were all short and didn't look like mine
then I discovered while trying to remove it that the top portion was just a cover

So the lower portion looks fine (Although that handle part to unlock it is broken and the cup holder slides out sometimes)
I was thinking of just reupholstering the cover, but im just curious because it doesn't seem like this cover was very common
does anyone else have this?

So im getting some new KYB struts and I was thinking of replacing my coil springs, they look ok from what i can see but I'd rather get new ones, my issue is I don't want to lower my car at least not significantly. Anyone know of any springs that are either the same as stock or have at least a very slight drop, I'm not a true fan of dropped cars

i'd check your caliper bolts...

I agree you should make the sure the Guide bolts are in good shaped/properly lubed, but on a side note if your using Semi-metallic pads they tend to be noisier than other materials, I used to run them and every so often I'd get this tiny creak/ping when I started braking.

Well from the sound of it it sounds like the tumblers on the camry are worn down, i had a similar issue with my old 91 CRX and my friends 94 Accord, he could open and start my car but I couldn't with his and sure enough it was the tumblers

so my car died other night, i replaceed the alternator and put a newer batter in, so far it cranks and runs. ever since right before it died tho, i noticed the power windows, sunroof and gauges dont work. My windshield wipers work, but they are very slow. whats goin on? it has a new alternator, why isnt the windows and gauges working now?

Well a similar incident happened to my car but that was when i reversed the terminals on the battery and blow my main fuse, perhaps you've blown the main fuse have to taken a look at it?

So i'm interested in finding these gauges

Anyone know a reputable place to get these from? I'm kinda sketchy about getting them from ebay unless I have no choice

Off the top of my head I believe as long as there both 1.8L engines (7A-FE) then they should both have the C56 transmission, But I could be wrong
