ok i know now that i need the e-153 tranny in order for the 3sgte engine to run smoothly and allow everything to work fine and not blow anything up.  my question is how much would it cost me if i was to go to toyota and ask them for one?  what year should i get for this v6 camry tranny?  all i need is this in order to start my 3sgte swap.  I'm really excited to start on it but this is the only thing holding me back.  can't wait  biggrin.gif

If you want to get an accurate price, you may want to try calling the parts department at Toyota...

When I called one locally, I was quoted around $1500 just for the (brand new) tranny...

is that a brand new tranny with or without LSD? without right?

It was with LSD. The one without LSD was around $1100.

good to know!

thanks.

try this:

pump your gas peddle a few times before starting your car, then let it run for a bit.

i heard somewhere that the most wear on your engine takes place in the first few minutes because you're running on a cold engine. i always let my car (whatever it is i'm driving) warm up for a couple of minutes before i leave, especially now that it's winter and it's snowing like a mofo around here rolleyes.gif

I mounted mine in the glove box. Once you get it tuned you dont need to play with it anymore. Its pretty bad here to have it showing to everyone on the street. Your just asking for your car to be broken into. Also I hear that its illegal to have where I live.. or any aftermarket computer so its hidden in the glove box so I wont get defected.

do you have a pic of this?

that's right, i'm gauging interest here for HID's and maybe some replica mufflers.

if there are enough people, i will drop the price down a bit biggrin.gif

details:

i'm based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. you can pay directly through your credit card or by snail mail.

right now i have Osram HID's in stock and they're going for around $575 CAD (Canadian dollars) + shipping and handling to where ever (prefer North America). This price includes a 5 year warranty!!!

as for mufflers, i currently carry single tip ones only. silencers are included. sorry no catbacks are available. these are universal mufflers only.

3.5" outlet, 2.5" inlet.

pictures below.

picture 1

picture 2

picture 3

$125 CAD + shipping and handling. if we get 12 people i'll bump it down to $109.99 CAD wink.gif

as soon as this gets going i'll post up more details.

post up here if you are interested in any of this!

i had thought that but didn't want to say anything biggrin.gif

would it be possible at all to get this for GTs STs or GT-Ss? i think it looks good. some of those front kits are too agressive imo and too eye catching to cops too.

it also balances the car out a bit looks wise imo. matches with the side skirt...

here's a questions for you guys then:

if someone wanted to upgrade the turbo on a 3s-gte, where would he find a suitable turbo? from what car? what kind of gains would you expect? would it be a reasonable way of getting more power or just a waste of money/time?

this has prolly been mentioned somewhere else before but it would be nice to have some actual discussion on this topic as well as maybe concrete all of the information biggrin.gif

i'm not an expert by any means on this subject, but isn't the CT26 turbo the one that comes stock on the 3sgte? and doesn't the supra come with a twin turbo or something? i'm not sure if i trust what this guy is saying, his english is kind of shotty and it's a little weird that he wanted to keep the turbo for so long without selling it sooner...

but like i said before, you should get another opinion as well as mine rolleyes.gif

Did any of the trannies that were mounted up to a 3S-GE(ST202/3 Celica, Curren, Altezza, etc.) come with a LSD? If so, you could probably swap in one of those trannies fairly easily and then you'd be able to get better traction off the line. smile.gif

that's one way around the tire spin and it would save people from having to look for the rare camry v6 tranny biggrin.gif

oh and by the way, did you get my e-mails coomer? i never got a reply to any of them about the group buys confused.gif

ooh, that kinda sucks... i'm all about the fast starts rolleyes.gif

sigh... i suppose there aren't any ways around this unless you put super grip tires up front eh?

unless there is a way around this that i'm not thinking of biggrin.gif

QUOTE (97sccelica @ Aug 11, 2003 - 3:12 PM)
the 3sgte does not weigh too much more than a 5sfe, it is the same series block

as for times, i dont know of anyone that has taken a fwd 3sgte celica to a track.

my guess is 14's with a stock 2nd gen 3sgte. but it will depend on the driver, with that much power it will be very easy to screw up your launch

true enough... i'm with you on this one, but that's just my super inexperienced guess biggrin.gif

is the ST185 really not that much heavier than the 5sfe? hmmm... i guess it is negligeble when you add how much power difference there is wink.gif

what about if the 3sgte wasn't stock? could it drop blow 14 sec with bolt ons and other misc modifications?

everyone is always asking about the 3sgte swap and about the AWD conversion, but does anyone know what kind of 1/4 mile times the fully swapped FWD celicas pull? also, how much would a completely swapped celica weigh? stock ST204s are famous for their light weight and handling capabilities, but does this still hold true for post swap celicas?

i'm just in a thinking mood today i guess rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif
