QUOTE (Euphoria @ Nov 23, 2008 - 10:14 PM) *
you can do that it just looks shifty, you won't get any noticeable gains but it sounds much nicer and you will have to drill a hole in the stock piping so you can fit the air temperature sensor.

Thanks for the info.

Where in Australia are you from ?

Do you know anyone that has done it this way ?

I'm wanting to put just the pod filter on my Celica and was wanting to know if anyone here has just put the filter without a CAI and what was required to do it and their opinions - is there a power difference, how is the sound, any disadvantages and do they have a pic that can be posted up ?

Thanks.

What do i need to do to just mount the pod in the engine bat without a CAI.

Just want to get the filter in and i know there are more gains from having the CAI, and that will come later, but just need to know what is required just to do a basic install ?

QUOTE (delusionz @ Nov 4, 2008 - 5:27 AM) *
I recommend the 3", Get yourself a 3" aluminum intake pipe (noname from ebay is perfect), a 2.5 to 3 inch (62mm to 76mm) rubber reducer (silicone reducers cost 4x more than rubber), sturdy clamps 2.5" (60-70mm) and 3" (70-80mm), and your pod filter is what you spend more on.. I've heard the HKS mushroom filters are the best, K&N conical (pod) filters are up there aswell, but even a $40 simota or wildcat will do the same job and I've heard someone say this before - "buying expensive pod filters is like buying expensive toothpicks."

EDIT: None of our engines use air flow meters, and the aluminum pipe you get should have a 20mm hole for the air temperature sensor to stick in with it's rubber grommet and a 10mm nipple for oil vapor.

I just re-read this.

Is this if you want to build a Cold Air Intake (CAI) with the filter ?

What do i need to do to just bolt the pod filter straight into the engine bay ?

Not too worried about a CAI at this stage, just want the noise.

Any help would be appreciated as i'm looking to get one on ASAP.

Thanks.

Sorry, i still don't quite understand.

If i buy a 2.5 or 3 inch filter (does this matter??), i also need to buy an adaptor to make it fit or not ?

If so, is there a particular adaptor i need to ask for or a alternate ?

For instance my old MX6 used a pod filter with a factory plastic air flow meter adaptor from a different model car which could be bought from a spare parts shop for $3 !!

As much as i do like the factory steering wheel that came with my SX-R, i saw a MOMO wheel today which just made look twice and then a third time.

My question is if i change the steering wheel to the MOMO, is there any way to keep the cruise control ?

I really do want to put the MOMO on and the actual installation shouldn't be an issue as i have no airbag, but i like my cruise control more and am not willing to part with that.

Any advice would be great.

We use DHL and UPS.

If you can try a couple of places and give me a quote i would appreciate it.

I have a feeling it may be reasonable and we can work this out.

QUOTE (KAOS @ Aug 29, 2008 - 1:00 PM) *
WALKER and I forgot to take pictures of the underbody/piping this past weekend when we had the car jacked up. We got distracted swapping out the suspension and completely forgot all about the piping.

I will try to get the car lifted so I can take some piping pictures, but as far as I know I'd like to sell the whole assembly from the Cat back... if that helps you out TRD Boy.

As far as shipping goes - I'd almost have to get the exhaust off - see how many peices it can break down to and then weigh it all ... I don't think shipping will be cheap. frown.gif

That's fine, cat back is what i'm after.

I'm certainly happy to pay the freight if the costs are within reason, i'm sure what i've budgeted should cover it.

I import a lot a stuff through work and the freight costs are quite reasonable on most items.

Look forward to seeing the pics.

Let's see the underbody pics and for sure, i'll ship it over to Sydney, there's nothing like that over here.

What's included with the package and will it be straight bolt on and if so, where abouts under the car will it bolt on too ?
