Hey Guys, I'm also planning a Sound System upgrade, nothing extravagant but hopefully something to improve the quality a little. I have a '99 ST Lift/hatchback with the 4 speaker setup (2 up front and 2 at the back) - I believe from reading the above that this makes both the fronts and back 6.5" stock speakers. I'm planning on converting this to a 6 speaker system with some JBL GTO-607C's at the front, flush mounting into the triangle behind the mirrors. Does anyone know if this is possible without changing the triangle plate to the version with the slightly elevated tweaker grilles, i.e. is there enough room for the tweater? Do I need a mounting adapter for the mid=woofers (the JBL's will fit 6.0" - 6 3/4" fitments). I saw the post from death but this seemed like a little modification was required. I was hoping to just be able to screw them in. Also do the rear speakers need a mounting adapter, the guy on ebay offering me the front adapters is also offering me some for the rear? One last question - I really dislike the grillse on the front speakers - can these be changed, can i use the grilles with the new speakers? Thanks for the help. SG |
