yh, sounds like its more trouble than its worth i think... i just thought it would be more cost-efficient than an engine swap itself... thanks for the advice anyway. as far as the boost off the ct26, i was thinking (dangerous thing for me) that if i kept standard boost off it, the engine internals could have coped with it??? |

Hi guys, ive got a question and i appologise if it has already been covered (but cant find a previous thread that directly answers this. ive got an st202 3sge, ive somewhat stumbled upon a free (working) ct26 toyota turbo and dump valve...seens as i got these at no cost, i was wondering how difficult (or practical) it would be for me to get a standard gt4 ecu, front mount intercooler and basically set it up onto my 3sge engine???... would the standard clutch/ gearbox cope, need forged pistons? basically can i do it without the car blowing up lol... many thanks in advance.. Hi guys, just a quick question..(again). i was looking at some 'lumpy cams' from 'FENSPORT TUNING'. for anybody who has uprated their cams on an st202, or has knowledge of it,... are they worth the money?. what are the power gains on a pretty much standard celi? and is there anything i should buy in conjuction to get the best out the cams (remapped ecu or something) many thanks in advance,. if this has been covered in a previous thread, i oppologise.. lol, well thanks for the open welcome anyway guys... erm ive got the 1993 gt if that helps... i just figured that seens as im already de-cat'd as i said, if it would be more sensible just to get the 4-2-1 tubular manifold, my basic goal here is just to get my 'gt' to hit the 200bhp area the most cheapest and economical way without sacrificing reliability (which i know is normally impossible... but anyway, thanks again for your help... |

![]() hi guys, sorry to bring up another exhaust thread.... but, on my st202, i have put a custom muffler/can on the end (for sound difference only i know) ive de-cat'd too, now rather than have a totally new custom exhaust, i was wondering if i'd be better off just having a 4-2-1 custom manifold made up and use it on the existing pipe.. how much power (if any) would i gain doing this?, or should i just go for the full custom? thanks in advance for any help... |

![]() APART FROM AN UPRATED AIR FILTER AND EXHAUST.. IS THERE MUCH POWER YOU CAN SQUEEZE OUTTA THESE N/A GT's??? ..at least at a sensible cost. i was thinking about chipping and re-mapping mine but someone told me that the celica gt's ecu is already advanced as it is. i guess what im asking for is for someone who has been in the same situation to shed some light on where i can go with this... realistically i dont want to spend more than £500.. any advice is very appreciated..ta |

[/s To the ppl who replied on my last question... i thank u for ure input., i did have some ppl say to sell my st202 and just buy a gt4, and that is a great idea apart from the fact ive got like a £3000 paint job on the gt, to buy a gt4 and re-do the paint wud cost me double that of to simply upgrade the engine on the 1 ive got. erm... anover thing i would like to pick ure brains with is: if i do put a gt4 engine into my st202, is there a BEST generation of gt4 to do it from, What i mean by that is, would a 6th gen gt4 engine be easier to install than a gen 5?, are they the same or different? and which gen has more power std if they are different?. thanks agen for your help, im just trying to absorb info... who better to ask than u guys?.. ![]() |

Russ, The 3SGTE can be installed without much trouble but you have to keep it FWD. Converting to AWD has been done a couple of times, but it requires extensive modification and fabrication. As for traction, that certainly is a big issue, I personally recommend using a Quaife LSD which will make a world of difference. If you search around on this forum you will find several excellent threads about the 3SGTE swap, the difficulties of the AWD conversion, and a thread or two by people who have done it. No doubt you will quickly be bombarded with "SEARCH N00B" replies, please don't take them personally, this forum is a very nice place overall ![]() -Doc thanx doc dude, that helps, how much does an average quaife lsd cost then m8, just a ballpoint figure if poss, thanx agen for your help |

Hi guys, im a newbie, had my celica st202 for only a few months now...... and was thinking of doing an engine conversion this winter.... but need knowledge on something. ive read many topics on how the 3sgte engine is a good choice for more power, having previously owned a nissan pulsar GTI-R, the celica gt is a bit of a downgrade when it comes to power, id be happy with 240-280 bhp if poss, my main question is this: When the GT4 3SGTE engine goes into a gt, can i fit the running gear off the gt4 on my car so it is four wheel drive? ... and with or without floor-plan mods? i see no point in more power in a front wheel drive... cant put it down very well unless bone dry conditions as it is, (and england rains 24/7 anyway lol) ..your help and advise would be very appreciated guys... many thanks, Russ. |
