I'm building the car mainly for drag racing, maybe a weekend cruiser... I will be running drag slicks most of the time. Besides you don't get any traction out of anything with 500hp. I just wanna know which trans. will last longer. Thanks!

O.K... So I plan on swaping my 5sfe for a heavily built 3sgte with aprox 500hp. I was originally planing on just using my current trans. But people are telling me that the 5sfe trans are weak and won't hold the power. The engine I'm buying is the gen 3 st205 motor and it comes with the awd trans. Is there anyway to convert it to fwd? And if I did would it be any stronger than the one I have? Or should I use the MR2 trans.? And what the hell is the difference? frown.gif

It would be fine. Underdrive pulleys are good for all-moter set ups. But never a good idea witha supercharger. I have built a couple blown 5.0 motors... so I know. Turbo is questionable. I just wouldn't if i was planning on making a lot more power.

I agree. If you use the 3sge wiring harness it will follow the correct path... but not so sure it will just "plug up." It probably would with the correct cluster and the 3sge ecu. And if not it wouldn't be hard to correct. As long as you have wiring diagrams for both engines to cross reference. But there realy isn't a lot of differences between the 2 engine designs.

Since the power steering pumps, a/c compressor, alternater, etc. are mounted in the exact same location and the engine blocks are almost exact. It should work just fine.

Who is ATS and where are they located? Do they have a website? I love my car and want to do my research before I just hand over my engine.

Use something to seal it also... IDK, silicone or something. Just to make sure you don't have a vacum leak. Let me guess... You bought this intake on Ebay? Next time check out your parts before you buy them! Anyway it shouldn't cause to much trouble. maybe a little loss of low end torque if it is leaking air... But then again maybe no change whatsoever.

I would suggest not. I bought the VENOM piggy back for my 96 st. It worked pretty good. But when letting the engine decelerate the car would jump eratically. Verrry annoying!! So I sold it to my buddy with a miata. It worked great on his car, It almost made it fast!!! LOL

O.K. Mine is a little different. So I'll tell you what... Give me the code and I will try it. If it don't work when I plug it back up I will hit it with a hammer! I prob wouldn't get but about $5 anyway. Destroying it would give me $10 worth of enjoyment!

Does anyone know a shop located in the U.S. that builds 3sgte engines? And does good work? I have already purchased a lot of parts for the engine including cams, pistons, rods, and upgraded turbo etc. I'm a decent engine builder but I am new to the 3sgte world and frankly I'm a little scared to do it myself. if it was a muscle car... maybe. I also do not have the engine yet.. but I have a buyer for my mustang lined up to buy the engine and final parts I need. Just need the info for future reference. Thanks!

QUOTE (azian_advanced @ Aug 8, 2008 - 12:38 AM) *
wrong forum.

but anyway if you unplug it or remove the battery for too long, the stereo will lock up. you need to ask the dealer for the instructions and code on how to unlock it or they will do it themselves.
do you have the same stereo as me (click here)? if so i can give you the unlock instructions.

Yes I beleive I do! If you have unlock code that would be great! Wanna buy my old stereo?

Both models are "s" series engines. So the tranny and moter mounts, even the clutch would work perfectly. But the st204 comes with a 5sfe engine. Wich is a fuel economy engine which means it doesn't have the vvt-i. So wiring and ecu will not work. But phoenixtuning.com will provide you with a plug and play wiring harness.

O.K.... I my celica says that if I remove the stock stereo it will never work again. So my question is... Does anyone know how to remove it without this happening? I would like to sell it for some cash back. To use on other upgrades. rolleyes.gif
