yo homeboy, you ever figure this one out? the guy that had replaced the tranny broke a sensor (i want to say it was called the module sensor..) and just attempted to splice it back together. you can't splice it, you have to buy a new one. replaced the new one and its almost perfect. it still dies in reverse sometimes but hopefully a good tune-up will fix that. |

from what he described he was getting no upper gears and inconsistent reverse and when running the fluid was not in the pan? or it was but got higher when it was turned off? i'm not sure what the hell he's saying really. he says the trans fluid is getting sucked up the trans and then just vanishes? The fluid is getting sucked up, but not returning when its running. you turn the car off, it all drains back out into the pan. thats how the mechanic described it. the fluid level wasnt low, meaning it would need fluid. we turned the car off and immediately checked the level, and it was saying it was high. well you are talking about the shift solenoids sensors, I have a write up here in case you want reference. but make sure you are checking the fluid level after its been running hot or warm, not when it is cold and parked. Thats how the transmission ATF is checked. we turned the car off and immediately checked the level, and it was saying it was high. |

lucas? which lucas? that could be your problem there. where does it read on the stick when its running? any flashing OD light going on? theres no way that the fluid isnt getting back into the pan unless its going out of the transmission somewhere, its a closed system. ummm not sure. a mechanic told us last night that there are two plug wires on the transmission and if either of those sensors are broke it could be doing this. so we're checking that out tonight. |

you're low on transmission fluid, put some in before you burn that thing up. classic symptoms you have, no reverse and loss of forward gears after a few upshifts until you shut down and the fluid runs back into the bottom of the pan. trans fluid is checked with the engine running after its hot and the gear select has been moved through each gear range. should be in the cross hatch area, takes dex2 or better. nope we just put new filter, lucus, and fluid in it. its actually high after you shut it off |

Replaced motor in my 94 celica gt with a 96 gt. (THANK YOU SOO MUCH 96gtok!!!) My transmission went out. Put in tranny out of 94 gt. At first it would do nothing in reverse so we thought we were going to have to replace it again. The fuse for my windows blew about the same time, n when we replaced that, reverse magically started working. Coincidence? I took off down the road, my speedometer went out in about half a mile. My RPMs freaked out because of this. My car seemed to die so I pulled off the road and tried to take it back home. It wouldnt work in reverse again, and now nothing happened in drive. Turned it off and screamed for a few seconds, then tried again. It worked fine. Made it to the top of the hill and it did the same thing. I can drive about a mile before I have to turn it off and back on. The transmission is pulling fluid up through the filter, just not returning it. Evidence points to a possible wiring issue.... Any help or thoughts? |

Why are you relying on mommy and daddy's money? If you were to spend your own money you would take better care of the motor in the first place rather than racing around town blowing up your motor. The motor isn't a performance motor.. I owned a 7th gen gts and it was a blast to drive. Well the first couple of weeks. After that its just plain jane boring. You want fun day in and day out get a 3sgte under the hood. And use your own money. You'd appreciate it more. Mom's crazy overprotective. She "lost" my birth certificate so I couldn't get my permit. Finally convinced her to let me get a job; they closed after 3 paychecks. So, I have no money, no job, and now no ride to get to a job if one of the freaking 100 places I put in an application at ever calls. And dad told me if I kept good grades and stayed outta trouble, he'd get me a car. I had a $2000 budget for my 3.7 gpa. So I don't exactly feel spoiled or anything here... But yea, I was dumb for racing it. |

If you had an ST it would be cheaper to step up to a better motor, but a 3SGTE will cost you a couple grand, then wiring, exhaust, random bugs with every swap, etc. It is a general rule of thumb to have about 6 grand set aside to cover all your costs with a 3SGTE. Since a 2ZZ swap hasn't ever been done into a 6th gen celica it is going to cost A LOT more. Plus I'm sure since your riding mom and dad's pocketbook nothing will fly but another 5SFE. But if you're serious about it why don't you PM Dr. Tweak and ask what it would cost. X2 well i'm starting to wonder if this motors gonna be hot or something cuz he told me to do it all for $1500... |

i think you might be able to pull off better with tags and title to just by a 7th gen. they are cheap now days, That is a real nice thought. But parents don't have the money, my job shut down a few paychecks after I started, and I don't have a way to get to a job anymore because I have that crazy overprotectve mother who thinks its dangerous to walk in my tiny town. MY celi cost my dad $1650 wrecked, <$2000 when everything was done. Love my little car. |

Will this work? Sensors, tranny, etc.. I found a guy who loves to do mods. He said if I get the motor, he'll do the work free; simply spread the word about him. Is it going to cost a lot in conversions? I need to do something. I threw a rod racing at 120. I miss my car reaallll bad. If this won't work, does anybody know where to find a cheap motor or rebuild kit? Thanks, peace out |
