6G Celicas Forums _ Suspension/Handling/Braking _ Brake Rotor differences between ST and GT

Posted by: cardshark525 Nov 20, 2013 - 3:19 PM

Hey guys,

I'm sure this has been asked before and I ran a quick search but honestly didn't do too much looking since I'm at work.

Autoanything.com right now has some absolutely sick pricing on their brake pads and rotors. After all applied discounts they actually have EBC Yellow Stuff for a hair over $85. I'm looking at getting rotors too since they are giving an automatic 18-20% off the listed price of rotors but the only sub-model they have listed is the ST for all but their EBC Slotted+Crossdrilled rotors. The image itself that they show for their lower model rotors are still vented and look exactly like the GT blanks (usually Brembo's) that I'm so used to purchasing but I'd like to verify if they are the same, or if the website has an inaccurate picture.

Can anyone tell me really quick if there is a difference in the front and rear rotors between a USDM GT and ST? I had a budget at the moment in mind of about $200 for 4 rotors and front and rear pads and at these prices I can actually bump up to the EBC Yellow's from the Hawk Ceramics that I was targeting.

Again guys sorry about starting a re-thread if this has been asked and answered before, I feel this is the kind of question that the chat room should be utilized for but alas, we all know how well the chat works lol.

Thank you guys!

Do you know if the front disks are interchangeable?

Everything on the front braking system is the same.

Can anybody else just verify this for me? Only reason I ask is because for the brake pads that have a GT or ST sub-model selectable there's a price difference between them. Is it just the rotor that's the same? If the pads and calipers were identical I don't see why there would be a price difference....

Oh and just to update the promo that came up when I just looked them up was 20% off so the EBC Yellow's are $78..... (standard price at this site is $97 and every other site I've found want's a minimum of $102)

Thanks again.

For the front - ST and GT calipers, pads, and rotors are different.
You cannot use a GT disk with an ST caliper, and vice versa.

Rear - STs have rears drums, GTs have disks.

And Batman swoops in, fighting off unnecessary returns and return fees... BOOM! KAPOW!!!

is this rebate for ALL yellow pads or just for the GT ST models. I need some for my calipers for next season

Take a look at the site... I think it's on all of them. For the EBC Yellow's I think it actually gave the option to select from 1.6, 1.8, 2.2, and 2.0 engine models. What are you running?

It might be a cookie enabled added discount for first time customers or something because now that I'm at home it's not giving me the option of a discount. When you click on the product and the page loads fully, right below the price it should add a discount of anywhere from 12-20%...

Hey I just wanted to give you a heads up and drop a different site that I'm actually getting my pads from. THMotorsports.com. I'm not sure what pads you need (as far as if you've converted your brakes or not), but their Yellow's for a GT are...... $75... they have a $3 off coupon that works but the do charge shipping if its less that $100 so it comes to about $85. If this works for you though and you need those pads regularly grabbing 2 sets for $146 shipped is a hell of a deal.
