I am.

Short list:
-fuel cell
-rear subframe
-AWD transmission
-custom mounts for rear subframe
-mounts for driveshaft supports
-all axles from gt4

There's probably some more I can't think of right now. Czwalga did his rally style. Qatar11 is in the middle of his. I'm in the process of putting the 3s and AWD transmission in to line everything up and make mounts.

Time, money, mechanical know-how

Not to mention equipment. Im saving for a mig welder right now and thats a bare minimum tool for awd swap. You probably want a lift, engine-crane and all kinds of sophisticated tools to do it right.

It would be joyous to have an awd celica in the driveway though wouldn't it? thumbsup.gif

AWD is a special club where the entry requirements include a stick and 3 pedals tongue.gif

I've thought about it, but with Aussie transport regulations it makes it even less plausible than the states... If you want to throw money at it just save up for one of the 77... They go for $18-20k. An import sold 2 weeks ago for $12k, but that is rare tongue.gif You wouldn't bother AWD'ing a 5S, so first step would be a 3rd gen 3SGTE swap, which would probably blow like $5k and then all the bits for AWD. You would end up spending similar money, but have a kit car that is hard to register and insure, and is only worth 20% more than what the car is worth now, rather than $18k.

Also, you've been on the forums a few times now, and should be able to pick up the theme that first step in any quest is to search, then to ask... This question has been covered more than once, and following a few build threads would put you in very good stead if you were to ever consider it smile.gif

I agree completely smile.gif
There is a person on Gumtree selling a Genuine GT4 (no44 or something of the original 77), and it has a Sunroof (only 12 GT4 in Aus have the sunroof) and it has 0 mods. Is completely stock and has very low km for it's age... They're asking $30k..
In the long term; the OP would save a lot more money and heartache (if things don't go your way; and every mod in the car has parts like this) by just buying the GT4 to begin with... They would then also have a car that's worth a lot more than the converted car that the money has been thrown into...
There is also another person selling an uncomplied import (meaning it cannot be registered) and they are wanting $6K (It is not one of the original 77 GT4s)

Kind of off topic but does anyone know the real reason why our celicas were FWD? I'm just guessing that there weren't any good RWD engines to put into our cars? The 4age would've been a nice option. I also wonder why in the US, only imported two 4 cyl engines for our cars? The 7afe and the 5sfe. Would've been a lot better if it came stock with one 4 cyl(5sfe) or the 6 cyl(1mzfe) at least. Just like the camrys lineup. Just saying though. Lol.

It would have been good in aus if it went:
SX: 4Cyl 5sfe
ZR: 1MZFE
GT4: 3SGTE

I guess they wanted to keep the Celica 4Cyl due to the Supra being the 'Sports' car, and the celica being the 'efficient' car... Although I wouldn't exactly call the Celica fuel efficient tongue.gif
But it also isn't terrible...

^exactly what I mean. Lol. This is probably why the world lost interest of celicas. Now the TC, supposedly new celicas, they're lacking in power/sporty engines also.

The 1MZFE probably would have made the celica more fuel efficient for the average driver... Since, after looking at my friends camry with this engine and my cars fuel consumption, the 1MZFE has 1-2L/100KM better consumption than my 5SFE... The only thing I can think of causing this is the fact the 1MZFE doesn't have to work as hard as the 5SFE to get the car moving...
But, if my friend plants his camry and I plant my Celica, the Celica has better consumption compared with the camry...
BTW both are Automatics as well...
