 two clutch switches? |

Does anyone know why the Celica has two clutch switches? I found the little plastic button/stopper on the floor of my celica today (the one that the brake or clutch switch presses against). I thought it was the one from the brake light switch but my brake lights aren't stuck on, and when I checked the brake button was in the bracket. I looked around and saw the two clutch switches. One is on a bracket mounted exactly as the brake switch is mounted, the other is on the floor and is depressed when the clutch is on the floor. The car starts fine with the clutch pressed, then I tried starting the car without pressing the clutch, it didn't start, so the floor clutch switch is the one for the starter circuit. I checked the wiring diagrams in both the Haynes and Chiltons manuals, neither one shows a second clutch switch. I'm guessing it might be part of the cruise control system, so if you start to press the clutch the cruise control will shut off. Unfortunately I have disconnected my cruise control so I can't test to see if that is what it is. Mine is a convertible model, but I doubt it has anything to do with the convertible system.

More than likely a cruise control switch.
