Just curious do you feel much of a difference having two different sets of coilovers on there? Not really, but I mean I've been running the hot bits around 20 reb and 15 comp and the TRD's at 4, which is the stiffest they go. For me, the ride is pretty nice, but obviously I still try to avoid bumps and potholes lol Handling wise, it feels great having it a little softer in the front and stiffer in the rear; especially because it's FWD. If it was too stiff in the front, I'd constantly lose grip going around corners because it would just hop around. Honestly, it's an amazing setup right now, I hardly get much understeer and I don't get any oversteer. I'm not sure if you'd be able to answer this for me or not, but before I put the Hot Bits on the rear, I didn't have an camber, but after I put them on, I had a lot of camber. Same tires when I did the change and it was the same height as well. Should I try loosening the bolts and evening it out at all? I'd rather not get camber bolts..... |

Actually, 1 is the hardest setting for the TRD's and 4 is the softest. Counterintuitive, isn't it? I ran them on 1 for a while before Dustin enlightened me.

Oh, then I totally read your PM wrong when you told me lmao Edit: Just looked at them and I've been driving on the stiffest setting then. I feel so dumb lol This post has been edited by mkernz22: Mar 15, 2013 - 5:09 PM |

Positive or Negative camber. Raising and lowering your car away from stock will effect it. Personally I dont have to buy the plates you can slot out the holes to move the top of the strut. Use thick grade 8 washers above the bolt.
It's what i've done but then again I run pretty much close to stock height, and my strut towers are cover in 1/8th plate so they are a lot stiffer if I want to slot them out a bit. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

I'm just going to end up buying four more OEM camber bolts. I still need to put another set in the rear and the fronts definitely need them too.
Just got done with my brakes today and boy can I say this car will stop on a f*cking dime. After installing the new pads and rotors, the pedal lost all of it's play and catches if you even tap it, where as before it went down about halfway and then caught. However, I need to replace the front brackets because one sliding pin on each side froze and I have to replace both the rear calipers and brackets because the brackets are rotting and the sliding pin on the calipers (side the bolt goes through) is frozen and won't come out. Hoping to get a set cheap on here, if not I'll be buying reman ones. I just want everything to wear evenly, I'm sick of the outside of my rear rotors rusting and the pads wearing unevenly and all that bull. I'll post some pics of them late though, they look nice and perdy, specially since I painted the middle of them black. oh and I need to replace my filler neck, it's rotting..... |

AutoX I did on Sunday. It's about a mile long course. This was my second fastest lap @1:47, my fastest was a 1:45. From the video I can see many places to improve on, but this was my first time out this season and I haven't done it with the coilovers before and I just got new pads and rotors all around so I'm still adjusting to it!

In other news, finally got around to taking the valve cover off the 1mz. Doesn't look too bad for having 250,000 miles on it! This post has been edited by mkernz22: May 5, 2013 - 8:52 PM |

plans for the motor? rebuild? or just replacing some gaskets and swap her in? Let's just say that the rods I'm looking at are about $1400 for all 6. It's going to be a slow build. I want to at least get the engine stripped down, tanked, decked, and get it bored out before I leave for boot camp. Before I leave, I'm definitely going to have it stripped down. The other stuff just depends on if I have the money. I still need to get that transmission off of you too. |

My car likes to over steer instead of under steer. I mean you'd think going around some corners pretty fast that the front end would start to slide since it's fwd, but nope, the back end does. I mean I guess it's better to have over steer instead of under steer though.

^soo much stuff... You'll have to help us out on which bits are new Some of you guys might know about the 1mz that I got. That's starting to get torn down. There's an automatic transmission that I still need to pull the solenoids from. And the newest edition, which I just picked up yesterday, is the AWD transmission DEFINITELY the bug catches net. that wasnt there last time It's actually a car cover for a Corvette It would fit my car perfectly...if it wasn't for my spoiler... OH! and I'm not going into the Marines anymore. Realized it isn't what I want to do and I kind of jumped into it because my buddy was going in too. So I'll be around now. Hi there. It's been a while.
These are going in my car at some point. And these are now in my car. The whole interior is getting swapped over into my car too. I literally mean every single panel including the dash. |
