If you want N/A power you really need to go to a BEAMS or 1MZ-FE.

Indeed. Always the 3MZ-FE and 2GR-FE as well.

so the v6 would be the best option for n/a. most likely i would need to do modifications to the mounts? what is a good website to go to for body parts? this poor car was abused before i got it, and i want to restore it but with more power. i don't have very many places locally to get parts, any good site u guys would recommend.

Members Kurt and Smaay have done the V6 swap successfully. Over here in the states it really is the best option, since the 1MZ-FE is readily available for cheap. On the GT I think there is only 1 mount that needs modified/changed, but don't hold me to it. eBay is always a good place, find a seller with good feedback and you should be ok. Another option is to find a donor car, which gives a majority of what you'd need for the swap. Finding a donor with a manual will be harder, but there is a workaround with the auto ECU.

the 1mz-fe seems like a good choice, for the swap i would need the whole front end, say from a fwd toyota solara maybe? or can i just get by with the engine, tranny and ecu? and is it better to get the engine with vvt or without it?

You'll need the engine, ECU, and harness at the least. You can use your S54 transmission from the GT. You'll want pre VVT-i and pre drive by wire to make life easier. Best case scenario you find a rear-ended Camry/Solara with the E153 manual transmission.

You can get the VVT-i engine, and you probably should. Earlier model 1MZ's had sludge issues. But definitely get pre drive by wire.

I wouldn't worry about the sludge thing, just check out the engine and go for a low mileage if possible. Even better if it's at a junk yard pull the front valve cover before pulling the motor. There's been at least 10 pre VVT-i 1MZ-FE cars in my immediate family and none of them had a problem. Then again we also take care of our cars. By pre drive by wire we mean there's a cable between the accelerator pedal and the throttle body. Where as on drive by wire it's all electronic.
