Magnaflow mufflers aren't much more expensive than the cheap crap. The XL series starts in the $50 range and their straight through series starts in the $60 range.

Indeed. Tip is another $25 or so at the cheapest. Just think though, you're supporting hard working American machines and the Americans that move stuff between them.

The only good sounding 4 cylinder is the crossplane crankshaft I4 used in the Yamaha sport bikes. Through careful selection of exhaust components an I4 can be halfway ok though. The biggest thing is to use a resonator and a baffled muffler.

make sure you use thick sidewall exhaust piping as in the gauge of the piping thickness.
