Phony? Who, me? Nah. I hit the gym (and steroids) hard, started smoking, and I love cutting trees up with a chainsaw. Kissy pictures are for scrawny little 160 lb guys who post lame car pictures on Facebook.

Who are you kidding? Whoever that guy is, he got there one of two ways.

1. He drove another car.
2. He rode in the passenger seat.

And for the record, I love Brigette for totally delivering in this thread. smile.gif

I don't particularly care how he got there. I have photographic evidence that he is kissing my girlfriend. Clearly I'm going to have to break up with her. She can keep the dogs and the apartment. I only need the Celica.

In other news, I'm shopping around for a new rim or for a repair shop for this one... No real luck so far. May just have to bite the bullet and keep it like this. The tail lights are still working great, as are the floorboard LED's. I'll be installing a set of those in my Z as well. I'm not liking my Alpine Type R speakers too well. The mids and highs are decent, but lows, not so much. Gotta get everything tidied up before August 17th...

Did a cheap and easy mod today. Shift bushings have needed to be replaced for a while and I've avoided the cheap brass bushings from Ebay because, frankly, they suck. About 5 second of research on teh interwebz led me to a different solution: skateboard bearings. They're dirt cheap, easily accessible, and the perfect size. In addition to the skateboard bearings, you'll need a couple of small washers to act as spacers.

Here's what I started with:

Here are the new bearings and washers:

Now, I completely forgot until I popped the hood and got down to the shift bushings that the Celica uses two different size bushings, so I was only able to use one of the bearings today. It's really not a good idea to use the other bearing as a shift bushing anyway. One cable selects the gears and the other only pushes from side to side. The cable that selects gears actually rotates two directions, so a solid bushing (such as the Ebay brass bushings or these bearings) would cause more stress on your shift cables and will eventually wear the cables out. Fortunately, that's the cable with the larger bushing so the new bearing won't fit.

Due to how worn out my old bushing was, I now have much crisper shifts. It's still not as tight as I'd like, but it isn't far off. The cost of the Speed Source shift bushings is around $30. Ebay brass bushings are $12-15. My total for the bearings and washers: $4.07. Here's the how-to.

Since I bought two bearings and could only use one, I can send you the other if you want.

The bronze bushings aren't crap. They are expensive though when compared to this. I'm using bronze bushings and there was a definite improvement over stock rubber bushings in terms of shift feel.
