Ok, so I'm redoing my headliner going with black felt. I may paint my map light panel black as well. So going with this theme has anyone reupholstered their sun visors? My drivers side one is kinda ...droopy?? Any and all ideas are welcome.

Redo the visors in matching black felt! The hardest part is getting it cut out and tucked for the mirror.

So how exactly is it done? It seams like its stitched all the way around?

I haven't taken an in depth look into it. If I had to guess you'd have a half for the front and a half for the back and run your stitching in the middle edge.

It's not a stitch. the material is like a cloth covered vinyl. If you take an xacto knife you can follow the seam then you have a pattern for your new material. There is a foam layer with cardboard at the core. I plan to use new sheet foam glued to a new piece of cardboard. I also plan to paint the mirror frame black and allow it to show instead of covering it as Toyota did. With materials in hand should take about an 1 1/2 for both visors.

I tried to refurbish my sun visors in white faux leather a while back and I had a lot of problems when I got to mirrors... At the end I just rage-quit and did it without them biggrin.gif But I plan to redo it in near future, because I also used too thick foam layer (1 cm) and did a poor stitching... Not as simple as it seemed at first smile.gif

I don't think I'll stitch may just glue super glue works good with heat plus it'll make the final seam that much easier

The OEM is melded of sorts, I was saying would probably be easier to stitch instead of trying to get some adhesive to work on the seam. At least that's how I'd go about it.

The mirrors are really useless anyhow since they're not lit.

Since I removed them, almost every passenger (especially females) tried to used that mirror biggrin.gif Got me thinking to write something like "You look like **** anyways" on that sun visor biggrin.gif
