Bought New original Momo Monte Carlo Type V35 steering wheel + momo yellow horn button and momo hub.

Now I'll have shift knob, handle brake and steering wheel all Momo.

Would like to, but don't feel like taking on a project at the moment.

The Celi looks great! Love those wheels! Love that stance! I always wanted to drive a miata (sss don't tell anyone ) but I never had a chance...

I keep bouncing around the Miata, they're cheap and plentiful in good condition. I miss torque though.

I've been driving an NC for the past week. Such a lovely car, and I prefer the NA even more. Replace the Celica, it does not though.

I like the NA the most too, I have a thing for popup headlights. I like to think of the Miata as the distant RWD cousin to the Celica, but less useful as a car. Not good for getting groceries for a week, then again I mostly eat Ramen noodles so I guess it'd work out.

Bull****. Lay bags on the floor, on the seat, in the trunk. No excuses on that one, there is enough space. A Miata is only too small if you truly don't fit in one. Speaking of, have you driven one yet?

I like having everything in the designated cargo area though. Especially when that entails alcohol, which legally has to be out of reach during transport. Drove a NB, reminds me of the Celica a lot. A little bit quicker to 60, but still lacks power once up to speed. Handling is similar, but just more balanced as one would expect. Really is better on fast sharp 90º turns, Celica likes to under-steer in those instances. My only complaint is that the steering wheel doesn't tilt, makes it harder to get in and out than what it should be. On the Celica I leave the wheel up for entry and exit, then bring it all the way down for driving. That and I'd really want one with a hardtop for the majority of the time. Would I take one with a hardtop over the Celica, yes. Would I take it over something like a Supra Turbo or Trans Am, no. For around the city the Miata would be fine, much in the same way that the Celica is. For highway, and especially the interstate, it's a nightmare. No power for passing or getting out of bad situations. I refuse to take the interstate with the Celica, and just use highways and back roads instead. Of course turbocharging the Miata would alleviate that problem to a degree.

You must drive like you have an automatic. It's true that the ST has to be kept on boil in order to pace traffic, but it's not that bad...for a FWD car, I rather enjoy the low amount of power, which means I can use it 100% of the time without getting in trouble.

I've been debating on either keeping my two post or buying a duckbill. I like the look of both but can't decide which one I like better.

Thanks It's taken a lot of work to get it there. But I'm pretty happy now. Next is to do the basic maint that I need to, paint the calipers again, and put a rear window spoiler on. Next spring the body will be getting fixed.


They do lack the torque of the 5S. It's almost the exact same as the 7A though... and with such a small car, you feel the power more, so it's an even trade IMO. I love how you can feel the engine through the shifter. The way it shakes in my hand makes me feel more connected with the car. (Isn't there a way of doing this on the Celica too? I mean the trans is not right below the shifter like in the Miata, but isn't it the bushing mod?)


I felt a bit more awkward when I got back in the Celica after driving the Miata for an hour straight... but once I put my foot down in second gear, felt the car launch... I remembered why I like the Celica lol. Although, the fact that I could drift on a stock setup in the Miata was nice lol.


I switched the lights on and off around 5 times total while driving just because. I really need to get a "pop-up" headlight car. AE86, where art thou?

I also do the same in the Celica. It's like having a cockpit of a plane or something to wrap into your seating position. I don't like how the Miata's dash is straight. I feel like it's tipped away from me because of how used to the Celica's angled dash I am. But, the steering height is fine for me and the stock seats (with my seating position) are perfect to slip under the steering wheel. Takes some muscle to drive though... especially when hitting a corner hard. Forgot how rough un-assisted steering is.

I shift at 3K more often than not, only when pulling out in front of traffic or onto the interstate will I take it past 5K. I downshift for turns and hills and all that jazz. Still when you're doing 55 and need to pass someone, throwing it into third and then having nothing really happen is frustrating to say the least. What's really fun is doing 70 and throwing it into 4th for nothing to happen. I can use the Trans Am's power 100% of the time too, I'll just never be able to pull past second. That or I'll top out in 1st and go straight to 6th... In that regard it won't be quite as fun, but doing 55/70 and dropping into 3rd/4th and something happening will be magical. You have to remember the Celica is the weakest car I've ever had by a long shot, I'm used to having power. Had I started out on weaker cars I'd be more content, maybe... I doubt it, but every other car having 200+ hp and torque doesn't help the situation.

Just blow out the bushings, then you'll feel it.

Meh, could always get a S13 240SX. I think you'd like one, doesn't weigh much more than the GT Celica but has more power and torque as well. That and the proper wheels move the car.

With the 5S, you can put your foot down and it'll make a lot of noise and then 2 seconds later it'll go at 55-60. Pisses my friend off because he has to downshift. Downshifting makes it go... sorta.. as long as you're not too high in RPM's. 5S falls on it's face at the higher RPMS.

Anemia aside the Celica is a good car, and I like it. I just love horsepower and torque too much I suppose.
