Left my key in the car after work yesterday evening. It was hanging on a lanyard around the shifter so I fished it through a gap between the window and seal with two coat hangers.

Good job on the retrieval, Ferdi. Yesterday, I adjusted my headlights a bit more and then I wasted time by taking a bunch of worthless photos of the car. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

Why didn't you do it the easy way and just jam a coat hanger into the power door lock/unlock button? -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Good job on the retrieval, Ferdi. Credit for the idea goes to the maintenance guy on property. Solid man, that. Why didn't you do it the easy way and just jam a coat hanger into the power door lock/unlock button? See above. I don't plan to have an opportunity to test if another way works. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

It's stupid how easy our cars are to get into without taking out the glass. The lock just stops the unmotivated.

And this is exactly why I bought a dash-cam. F*****g douche bags that make me almost drive off the road. I was less than 30cm from running off the road, the speed limit is 50km/h and this guy was doing double that easily whilst driving down the centre of the road on a blind corner... Crap driver is crap. You needs some different head lights!! Dash cam is a great idea!! |

Today I finally figured out what I'm doing car wise, my lady friend helped me decide. Hundreds of car enthusiasts couldn't convince me one way or another, but someone that doesn't know much about cars at all could. Funny how things work out. Of course I haven't told her that yet, wouldn't want her to think she knows me or anything...

I was planning to get a Supra again, but she made me look deep within myself to see what I really want. It doesn't hurt that she has a thing for them either. That being said I'll post a not so subtle hint. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

How much is a decent Firebird with manual over there? (Still looking at what I should get, lol ) -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |

How much is a decent Firebird with manual over there? (Still looking at what I should get, lol ) More than a Mustang, if that tells you anything. Depends on which engine it's equipped with. A good LT1 model is around $3,000+, where as a good LS1 model is $4,500+. If you shop around you can find some good deals though. Personally if you have the money spring for the LS1 version, even better in WS6 trim. The Camaro is identical aside from body paneling and some interior cues. They're usually a few hundred less than a comparable Firebird. Not to say the Mustang is a bad car, it's just not up to what the Firebird and Camaro is. The 5.0 models can have power put into them for cheap. The 96-98 4.6 models are just pathetic, so if you want a newer one at least go with the 99+ models. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Most important thing really is having something that is desirable enough that I can sell again quickly in less than 4 months after buying without losing significant money If I got a Mustang it would be '01-'03... and have to be the GT Oh, and the elephant in the room of course is the fact that since it will be a semester-long exchange on a student visa I will actually need a Californian Drivers Licence, with no social security number, and to then get insurance too -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |

As far as a daily driver goes the Mustang is probably a little better. More upright seating position(I personally like laying down, so just depends on you), higher off the ground, and it doesn't have a nose that goes out forever(gotta watch those sidewalks and concrete stops...). Performance wise the F-body is better, so it just depends on exactly what you're wanting. Another thing to note is the Mustang does have nicer interior, and engine access is better. That aside the F-body has a 6-speed, and the Mustang a 5-speed. Ehh, the F-body has a hydraulic clutch while the Mustang uses a cable, and the F-body requires premium where as the Mustang uses regular. Though the F-body gets better mpg, so you're pretty much even on fuel costs. It's easier to find a nice Mustang for cheap. I've seen nice early 00's models in the $3K range. As long as you get the 99+ 4.6 Mustang you'll be ok.
