Today I finally figured out what I'm doing car wise, my lady friend helped me decide. Hundreds of car enthusiasts couldn't convince me one way or another, but someone that doesn't know much about cars at all could. tongue.gif Funny how things work out. Of course I haven't told her that yet, wouldn't want her to think she knows me or anything... laugh.gif

So are you going to finally tell us already? tongue.gif I thought you were going back to the Supra?

I was planning to get a Supra again, but she made me look deep within myself to see what I really want. It doesn't hurt that she has a thing for them either. tongue.gif That being said I'll post a not so subtle hint.

I don't know much about American cars... But I'll take a wild guess that your getting a Firebird tongue.gif

Orly? laugh.gif That's the one downside, I can't plaster the Firebird in anime decals. Well I guess I could, would just look out of place. tongue.gif

Some guy is selling side mirrors for a 6gc, but doesn't know if they have the electric folding option. What do you guys think? Low wire count?

Look like regular mirrors to me. Ask him to try and open them, if they do so without resistance then they're plain.

Get a pic of the end of the plugs.

(The mirrors look identical from the outside - it is just the wiring that is different).

You also want to know what year they're off as this makes a HUGE difference.

You need to do some reading tongue.gif

Basically, the folding mirrors need a control relay that gets wired between the mirrors and the switch. In the '98+ update (Possibly some 97's) they built this all into the switch (R516 stamped on the back from memory), but before then you needed to track down a MATCHING control unit. This can be a big issue because there has been at least 3 documented designs of this and unless you get it all out of the same car we currently don't know how to chose the right one (And they are hard to find).

I've always wanted to know what was the point in power folding mirrors. Sure it looks cool, but why? Maybe for parking in tight spaces? Only thing I can think of. Then again over here, even normal parking spaces are huge for the Celica. tongue.gif

Lets say you live in a city with a lot of traffic and your worried someone will bump your mirror and knock it off. Bam! Folding mirrors! Problem solved! *sorta*

But in all honesty there's some guy down the street from me who always folds his mirrors up and it just looks... off. To each his own, right?

They are just relatively cheap, snatch them for myself, resell, idk?
I like stuff like that for my car, automated, lock the car and she literally arms, windows go up, mirrors fold.

A person around here had a 7th gen which the owner folded the mirrors in. One night the car got sideswiped, the mirrors survived, rest of the side was a right off lol...

I have some that I'm about to install (And another set on their way from Japan to sell, lol tongue.gif).... they look awesome and 'premium' AND I am going to hook them up to my alarm system so I don't need to do the walk of shame every morning to check that I locked my precious car! (And it always is.... but the mind plays cruel games... tongue.gif)

Here is an act of reckless driving I caught in front of me with my dash cam the other week... I thought it was pretty careless and dangerous... but I couldn't understand why I didn't see it coming at the time. Now I watched the full length video I know why... the car magically appeared next to me ready to cut me off only moments after I had overtaken a car in the slow lane! All of this just to overtake a couple of cars on the exit during a quiet night at 9:30pm.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNPbTgKMe5U

Unfortunately for them they did it in their company car.... the PR department is not impressed and is going to be onto them this week.... #NoSympathyForDouchebags
