To Paint my stock wheels this colour or not >.< It would work with your car being white. Though as I've gotten older I've found wheels to be like shoes, they should only come in neutral tones. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

In the last few days I turned 41, and...
- Got an engine hoist from my wife and kids for aging another year - Removed the hood - Removed the hatch - Took out the front seats - Took out the back seats - Removed all the plastic from the trunk/hatch area - Hammered out the dents from the rear fenders behind the tires on both sides - Tested out the color I'll be painting the car - (8L7) Stellar Blue Pearl Just tearing it down before she starts getting rebuilt. Taking my time on the interior while locating a 3S-GTE clip (GT-4 or Caldina). -------------------- |

Ehhh the crossroads have been reached. I can get basically everything I need for 1mz swap out of a donor Camry for about $400 from a friend. Only issues with the car in general is a messed up fender, broken light, rack and pinion broken off from support mounts, and the fact its got 300k on it. So id buy everything need for the swap, and then hed either try to sell or scrap the shell. Plus he wants to see it done...bad. So its a very viable swap.
On the other hand I still really want to do a 2nd gen 3sgte swap. I found one for about $700 for the motor just down the road. But it also has issues, they say it runs awesome but it has 220k and it got in a wreck and trashed the throttle body. So that worries me about if anything got messed up. Plus they didn't say anything about the turbo and what not. One would assume itd be included but the guy that runs this yard is really stingy. |

3sgte, clip or just the motor? I would assume itd be the complete motor; ecu, harness, long block + top end, turbo, intercooler, so on but I didn't have the money when I called up a few months ago and they didn't want to budge because it was so "rare" so I didn't bother to ask. |

Stock for stock I'd take a 1MZ over a 2nd gen 3S-GTE. It's only until that you start modifying the 3S to bring it up to 3rd gen specs and beyond that it'd be worthwhile in comparison. Having a donor car for $400 helps a lot too. I kind of like the idea of a reliable 200 hp that still gets 30+ mpg.

Today I am pretty sure I scored some JDM folding mirrors for like $20 each. Will have to investigate further into it.
If they are folding, I'll have to find a way to wire them since I don't have the controller (already sold). To anyone who owns folding mirrors, when you press the button does it feel like a push button or it, like clicks and stays in a certain position. I am trying to figure out if the button just send a signal to the mirrors so they fold and a basic push button will work too. -------------------- |

Quick question 6gc gurus. Is it possible that Toyota made 1997 models that were sold in 1996. That has the facelift from the 97 and the 2 post spoiler from the prefacelift? I'm thinking mine is one of those if there were a few made like that. I still have the original red paper that was placed on the windows at the Dealership. Lol. My car is a 1997 but was sold in 1996.

I've seen '96 models that were mix and match on pre-face/facelift parts. Never a '97 model. Anything is possible though. Could've just been a previous owner that liked the two post better.
