My coupe does the same thing
I beleave mines due to a poorly balanced axle shaft since it started shortly after replacing my pass side axle I've had my wheels balanced multiple times an everything inspected by a friend when my alignment was done an everything else checked out fine Mine also comes an goes around 50+ an tends to be more frequent on rough roads -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

If you are thinking about attending this meet quit thinking and do it. I traveled from washington state in 07 for this meet.
I can say honestly I was a little aprehensive about traveling 3000 miles to meet people I had only talked to on the internet and a few times on the phone. I can say it was one of the best experiences of my life, the people are the best and the meet was a blast. If I had the time or money I would be there in a heartbeat. -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.

A/c is fixed. Vincent_Doggy cooling plate has been delivered. New radio will be installed before the meet. Hopefully the local Toyota dealership was able to come up with one of my new ball joints today. Should have everything ready to go just in time.

I've lost count of how many times I've had to have the system vacuumed and recharged in the last couple of years. Had to replace a couple of O rings this time though.

Anyone have experience with weird wheel wobble? It comes and goes depending on the road. Happens at anything above 50mph and sometimes doesn't happen at all. Tierod ends are old but still okay, tires are balanced (supposedly) and I've got two new axles now. Could it be an internal issue with the tires? Like the bands breaking? Trying to figure this out before the drive, and it only does it with these tires/wheels. I'm going to try swapping the rears with the fronts (they should be rotated anyway) and see what that does... But I'm trying to get ideas of what else to look for. Never have had an inconsistent shake before like this. Make sure your rims are hub centric. If they are not, you need to buy hub centric rings for them. Then have the wheels balanced again. Not every shop is good at balancing wheels. I have had mine done, and then went to a different shop to recheck them. The new shop told the that the guys at the other shop didn't know what they were doing. They re-balanced them, and I have had zero problems since. If all of these things check out and you are still having issues, then you probably have a bent rim. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I only have centering rings on the front wheels as I can't seem to find anymore. I ordered 4 back when I got the enkeis, but I forgot to take them off the wheels when I traded them. I centered the rears with my lug nuts though. Would it still cause vibration like that coming from the rear? Also, anyone going to the meet interested in a set of Eibach (red) springs on Koni Special D adjustable struts? I've got a used set (less than 30k miles on them at this point) that are still good. The rubber dust covers or baffles need to be replaced on a couple though. This post has been edited by RabidTRD: Sep 17, 2013 - 10:50 PM -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. My wheels are not hub centric, but the previous owner put them with plastic rings? Have you or anyone else heard bad things about plastic rings? Should I get aluminum ones? QUOTE I centered the rears with my lug nuts though. Would it still cause vibration like that coming from the rear? You can't center with your lugs man, wtf. Go on ebay and buy some. Does the wobble come from the rear or it's clearly felt through the steering wheel? -------------------- |
