Firebird fell through, at least he was upfront and honest. Not a bad car for the price, just needed more than I want to deal with. Someone thought it'd be a good idea to remove all of the A/C components and paint it with latex paint... rolleyes.gif

I'm giving up and buying a Solara.

I agree Box.... get a Solara.... but you better be scrapping the shell and sticking it in a dead-engined GT.

It'd be a shame to scrap a rare V6/5-speed Solara. I'd have no qualms with doing it to the Camry though. The Solara is sorta sporty, sorta like how the Celica is sorta sporty. tongue.gif It's comfier, has a usable rear seat for my nonexistent friends, and already has a V6 out of the box. So what if it happen to be a foot and a half longer, 700 pounds heavier, or not even made in Japan? Close enough.

Meh, just burnt out from searching since April and having nothing come up in the condition and/or options that I want. Especially here recently thinking I finally found what I've been wanting, only for things to fall short. Plenty of V6 cars around in good shape but would just constantly be disappointed as soon as I started it, the one thing those cars have going for them would be out of the equation. Honestly I think I'd like the Solara more than them, just for the fact I wouldn't always have that close sense of regret. Thinking perhaps about getting a AW11 MR2 or Z31 300ZX as a second car. That or find an 81-87 Buick Regal as a cruiser and go with a GNX theme on it, always have liked those year Regals. So that'd allow me to keep the Celica as a daily.

Having driven a couple of autos and a manual Solara... You'll hate it. It's seriously a Camry. Want a Camry? Buy a Camry. Then at least your "useful" back seat will have doors. You want something "sporty?" Don't buy a Solara. They're sporty in the same sense that my Nissan Murano is a "sporty" SUV. It's. BS term thrown in the windshield to sell the car.

But I would so totally rock a V6/5speed for work.

However, there may be some 3way Celica swapping and buying action soon involving two countries, 1000 miles, and several other hooneries happening.

Maybe I will end up with my white ST204 after all.

You should know me by now, I was being sarcastic. tongue.gif I've driven one Solara and it was ok, marginally better than its 4 door counterpart though. They actually make lowering springs and coil-overs for the Solara. tongue.gif It's better than any other midsize sedan I've ever had the displeasure of having to drive though, thanks a lot incapacitated owners. Thought about an E36, but I'm not entirely sure.

I've already started looking for an AW11 or Z31. Found a AW11 for cheap but it needs a fuel pump though, I'd hate to know how much of a pain it'd be to replace that. Perhaps a S30/S130 if one of them were to pop up. Really just want something RWD though. I like the Z car from 70-86, and the AW11 seems fun. RA64 Celica also looks fun, there's a RA65 I see locally from time to time but it's rough. Would bandwagon and say AE86, but meh. Really just need to change things up in some way or another. I like the idea of the above though, since it allows me to have the Celica for daily driver use and then I have a car I can tinker with endlessly.

I like the Z32 Z, but I don't like the thought of owning one. I'll stick to my Z33 temporarily. smile.gif

I like the Z32 as well, until anything under the hood goes wrong. Then again the AW11 isn't a walk in the park either. Z31 are stupid cheap at the moment, and the 86 models in particular look cool. 160hp is enough in a 2,800 pound car to have some fun. Seriously thinking about picking one up..

Have come across that site before. redface.gif

The Z31 looks fairly ideal though, it's fractionally smaller than our Celica actually. Small, handles well, adequate power, and looks awesome in black. AW11 would be cool as well, until anything had to be done to it engine wise. Also I was right, changing the fuel pump would be a total pain in the ass; have to drop the tank. Really it boils down to wanting a car that handles like the Celica, but has less understeer due to being RWD, and has enough power to pull a hill with the A/C on and without having to drop out of 5th.

Hmm, could just buy the new C7 Vette and have some $40,000+ left over instead. tongue.gif Meh...

Really just need something that keeps up with this in a straight line:

It's terrible when your little brother has a faster car, it's all anyone talks about at holiday gatherings. The second part not so much, but definitely the first part is true. I blame sibling rivalry and an unhealthy level of competitiveness. Sure mine's faster through corners, but that doesn't mean anything in a straight line.

Really I'm indifferent. I'm serious about going up a hill in 5th with the A/C on though.
