Best bang for your buck would be to spray nitrous. Good gain and cheaper than swapping engines. Make sure to spend money on a bottle warmer and all the parts needed. Run it right and it shouldnt give you any problems.
Im not talking about installing a nos button. Tap the system into your tps and have a window switch for safety.

Any other kinds of mods that arent turbo or sc... Wouldnt make much gains as the others have said

I think he was looking into a N/A build.

Lol. As long as you run nos right... You shouldnt have a problem.

It blows engines from making them run too lean because of installer faults

My BEAMS got pwned by a 5S with a 75 shot of nitrous once. True story. That guy also had an E153 and some supporting mods to make sure the nitrous wouldn't blow his engine, but it was cool to see a 5S doing what his could do.

you mean you have a 5SFE right?
not a 5SFTE.
A 5SFTE is a turbo'd 5SFE.

More power for the 5S
Web or Colt Cams

I looked at the story of your Celica and it really helped. What mods, in regards to increasing power, can I do to my celica without having to change the cams?

Thanks for the help!

no problem man.

other than cams?
take out a crap load of the interior to lighten the car.

get some sticky tires.

get a SAFC2. I was able to get a bit of power from that with just a tweak of the settings. This was before the cams

I will be doing a swap to a 3S but only when my 5S gives out on me. The 5S is a good engine so i figure why get rid of it when it is still working like a champ. I really only want to get about 5 to 15 more horsepower if possible without Nos, turbo, or supercharging it.

you wont be able to physically notice a 5-15 hp gain

mostly it would be all mental.

as stated prior, lowering a car, throwing on an exhaust and all that would probably give you the perception of a gain in speed when in actuality you havent gained much at all.

The way I see it is to gain power out if a n/a 5sfe is to do internal engine mods. The head has the most air flow restriction. That's why the fe sucks. Lol. Would be nice to do a hybrid and throw in a ge head. Then that would be awesome! smile.gif

Hmm.. looks like I'm going to have to do some engine mods. For now i guess i'm just going to get SAFC2,Cold Air Intake (K&N), and JDM Extractor Headers. What would be the best air intake system to install?

Custom CAI or just use the stock airbox with a TRD filter or K&N drop in filter.

There is no real way to gain power with the 5s. I had a Weapon-R Dragon intake and an e-bay header on mine and while that made is sound a lot better than stock it didn't do much for performance.

If you're looking for SPEED (vs specifically horsepower), your cheapest route is free but depends on how far you want to take it. Lose weight (spare tire, jack, repair tools, rear seats, etc.

Your rims look very nice but if they're larger than the stock alloy 15's they're probably adding about 20 pounds of unsprung weight to the car, which is about 2-3 tenths when you're looking at a 0-60 time.
