Anyone know how do I remove the plastic trim around the rear exterior quarter glass which goes round to the A pillars?

I was told that that is one piece along with the glass (if I am thinking of the same thing you are talking about) and can only be replaced as a whole

Ahh thats what I'm after. So it can come out with the glass? I dont mind that as I'm wanting to respray the shell.
So how did you take out the rear quarters? and the trim on top of the door, how does that come out?

The glass and surround trim come out as one peice. Remove the interior trim, and iirc there are a couple bolts, then the sealant glue that holds the window in place.

You have to cut it front the inside. I use a oscillating multi tool. Use some kind of lubrication keep cutting over and over in the same area till you hit the metal. You can feel it.

I tried to get mine out and broken them.
New quarter windows from the dealer with the complete trim was about $70US each IIRC.
