I hope so as well. They're in MUCH better shape than my old seats, foam is in a lot better condition plus being the '96-99 style they're better designed anyway. I thought the Celica seats held you in before, but these really hold you. Just finished swapping the backs between the passenger and driver side, on the driver side the left bolster was a little worn from people not knowing how to get in and out of the car... The passenger bottom cushion is a little firmer in the center, but not so much so it's worth the effort of swapping the covers (since the driver side has the flap that attaches to the back to "fill" the gap when the bottom cushion is lowered, which by the way is reattached now as it wasn't earlier). That and I have sprayed them down with OdoBan to get rid of any storage building smell there was, wasn't that bad really but might as well do it now anyway. Tomorrow afternoon if it's not raining I'll swap the buckles and get them into the car. I'd have to say they're my favourite of the cloth seats from a visual standpoint. I suppose I'll probably burn my old set as they're pretty much useless outside of the backseat and maybe the driver covers. I thought about maybe using the old driver seat for making a racing chair for video games though. I look forward to going for a test drive once they're in. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Stupid double post.... Might as well use the space I suppose...
Once I get the driver window straightened back out I'm thinking about perhaps doing the exhaust next. I've been afraid to do it since I don't want it to sound like a bumbled bee. This post has been edited by Box: Nov 26, 2013 - 2:14 AM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Don't forget to either replace your seat belts or the buckles on the seats, as the preface and facelift models use different belts and latches. I'd trust you gut instinct on the exhaust, it won't do anything but make noise. A boosted 7A might not sound bad but the only reason to swap exhausts on a stock 7A is for the sound, and the 7A is no LS7.

Tomorrow afternoon if it's not raining I'll swap the buckles and get them into the car. Which it looks like it's supposed to rain all day... As long as I get them in before I go traveling around the state for Thanksgiving I'll be ok. Yeah... I just really don't like the sound of four cylinder engines... SOME are ok, but they're few and far between. If anything I was hoping it'd net another mpg or so. That's why I'm thinking a baffled muffler will be the way to go, since they cut out the harsh resonances unlike a straight through. I shift by sound, so it's kind of annoying not being able to hear the car outside of some mild intake noise. Then if the radio or air is halfway up you can't even really hear that. So in a way it's more for that, I just don't want it to sound like every punk ass kid around here. This post has been edited by Box: Nov 26, 2013 - 11:53 AM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

So the same uncle you bought the car from also had seats.......... An didn't say anything this whole time lol He's had nine of the sixth gen Celica, so he probably has lots of parts lying around for them. Which mine was his ninth and last, for now. I think he may have been saving the set if he got another Celica for himself, but he's gone off and has started buying expensive toys so he probably won't be buying another Celica anytime soon. I had said something about how the car's seats were killing me this last weekend, and he said he thought he still had a set somewhere and he'd give them to me if he did. Sure enough he did, and now I have them. Now I just need to talk him into letting me drive his '65 Cutlass, the supercharged NB Miata, or his recently acquired S2000. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

He had a MR2 then bought the Miata to replace it, now he bought the S2000 to possibly replace the Miata. He's just cycling through cars at the moment to find what he likes. He also has a last generation El Camino swapped with a 350, but is most likely selling it. The S2000 is really nice, though I don't see it being any quicker than the Miata.

Congrats on the new seats. Time for a 3S-GTE. It meets your needs perfectly. 300 whp easily and still gets 25-28 mpg on the highway.

Thanks, I sorely(hardy har har) needed them. If I am to swap I need a black GT though, as then I'd be able to make it into exactly what I'd want. Not only would the swap be easier regardless of it being 3S-GTE/BEAMS/V6, but more so due to the fact of the colour being black I could paint it whatever colour I may decide on.

Thanks, I think they're the best looking out of the cloth seats for our cars. I really like the pattern and colours along with the embroidering. I had the idea of replacing the outside black cloth with black leather while leaving the center inserts alone, would look really good I think. Of course that'd be way down the road, more important things to take care of for now. I actually somewhat feel up for a road trip now.

Rather small update, but a good one. Finally found a radio and installed it the other day. It's a Sony CDX-GT660UP. Main reason was to get a radio with auxiliary so I could use my Walkman while in the car. I originally wanted a double DIN, but then I realized I'd have no where to put the Walkman and cable out of the way... Anyhow some added benefits of this radio are noticeably better radio reception, colour customization, seven band EQ, six RCA outputs, and a plethora of other things. Anyhow, here it is installed:

Walkman. I had one of those. It was even waterproof. The only pain was you still had to flip the cassette over. Great job!

This is a Walkman mp3 player, so it's come some ways since the original. I already ordered a shorter 3' cable to keep in the car, since the cable I have now is 6' and is for recording the music I make. Thankfully my previous radio was also a Sony, and also thankfully Sony didn't change their harness design in the last ten years. Only thing I had to do was swap the wiring around from left to right, since somehow that got mixed up by whoever installed the last radio. What's really cool about this radio is that it has a sound field simulator that depending on the position you choose delays the output from each speaker so that it reaches the position at the same time. That and it has another program that restores mp3 files, and there's an automatic sound leveler too. I really like the seven band EQ, especially since my last radio was only a two band. You can grab them off eBay for around $50 used, not bad at all for everything you get. Which had I known I couldn't even use the trim ring or cage I could've found one even cheaper.

Long time no see. UPDATE! Only took some 3 hours and beat the Hell out of my hands, but it has been the best $20 I've ever spent. Megan Racing kit, not bad at all for the money. Seems like the biggest improvement came from replacing the rubber shifter console bushings with the aluminum ones. Dropped 1.5" and reduced the throw around 30-40% or so. Funny the difference it makes.
