Today I started to teach my cousin to drive a manual in the Celica. Apparently when I say let the clutch out gently it translates into just let it out as fast as possible. At least got it to where he could move it for the most part with just the clutch. I just don't even know.... The important thing is he wants to learn, so I guess that counts for something.

Today I started to teach... I assume you started (or he did, rather) with letting the clutch out slowly until he found (or should have) the point whereupon it catches? Today I racecar again... That's what I was trying to get him to learn control of first. He finally got it to where it'd roll with just the clutch, but it wasn't smooth. Though just to make it more fun once he got it rolling I had him bring it up to speed some and push in the clutch and I moved it into second for him. A matter of lots of practice I suppose. Just shows how everyone is different, once I had the feel for the clutch I was off on my own.

noticed I had a suddenly squeaky belt, then I realized it was the water pump going "SQUAK SQUAK SQUAK" ,
then as I pulled up to the driveway it suddenly stopped making noise, and started leaving a trail of coolant to mark my path. I'm lucky it happens now when there's no school so I don't have to go anywhere right away. but the guy I just bought it from told me he put a new timing belt on it (2 months ago). So I guess he either didn't replace the water pump while he was at it, or bought a really cheap one, or he used the wrong spring for the tensioner or something. I'm actually kinda excited to get to take the front apart and do the timing belt, I just wish I had the money to get it done sooner, and I'll have to tow it to my friends garage so I don't have to do it out in the cold. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.
