Basically, engine wise you have these options:
- 1.8L 7AFE - 2.2L 5SFE - 2.0L 3SGE - 2.0L 3SGE "BEAMS" - 3SGTE These are the 'stock' engines found in 6th gen Celica's. All these engines will fit all 6th gen celica as they use the same/similar engine mounts. That being said, I am pretty sure the 3SGTE requires a GT4 hood to fit and allow the airflow for the topmount, but this engine will fit into a modified standard bonnet if you use a FMIC instead. Depending what engine your car has in it, A 3SGE 'BEAMS' is a good upgrade from a 5SFE or a 7AFE. It revs higher, is more fuel efficient, has VVT-i and more powerful. The BEAMS model 3SGE is very easy to spot over a normal 3SGE as the BEAMS has a REDTOP: If you want all out power, then the turbo 3SGTE is the way to go, but it will cost more to maintain and as mentioned above, will require a new hood or a FMIC. Personally, if you have the 7AFE or 5SFE, then look for a 3SGE BEAMS Redtop. It is a great all-rouder NA engine and will drop straight into the engine bay. -------------------- ------------------------------| White '94 Celica | Bought 11/05/12 | Sold 12/05/15 |------------------------------ |

The 3S-GTE fits under a stock hood with no problems. It just retains more heat than the GT4 hood.

The 3S-GTE fits under a stock hood with no problems. It just retains more heat than the GT4 hood. I wouldn't quite say no problems. It works, but my gte needed 1.5" spacers on the hinges and trimming of the webbing underneath to clear the intercooler and intake box properly. otherwise you'll be rubbing and scraping stuff This post has been edited by enderswift: Dec 17, 2013 - 2:21 PM -------------------- |

Gen 3 3S-GE not a Gen 1 3S-GE and don't forget the 3S-FE and 4S-FE 1.8L on some Curren's too

I personally prefer the liftback, but the convertible can be nice if you be sure and take a good look at it, check for rips n tears, leaks, open and close properly ect. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.
