Just you wait until something starts rattling. One of my pet peeves. I hate pulling interior pieces apart, putting them back more secure than they were and then having a rattle start after.

So kind of a stupid question... When a manual transmission is low on gear oil, does it make a wining noise? I'm getting a weird wine which isn't the belt, not the alternator, checked the power steering pump, not that... Sounds like it's from the middle of the engine... I'm trying to figure out if the transmission can amplify a sound through the bell housing towards the engine, or if it is something internally wrong with the head.

It was too cold tonight to check the gear oil, so I'll have to do it after work tomorrow... But just trying to get some ideas of where to check next.

Does the noise go away when you push in the clutch?

It's not the throw out bearing... I know that noise. It is constantly there while the engine is running and changes pitch depending in rpm. Loudest durning low rpm
