Call me stupid, but what's an EDFC? Why does it require more hood clearance? Never mind. That's really cool! Didn't know those existed lol The new EDFC Active has some kind of adaptive response system...supposedly. And its wireless. Thats what I am very interested in. Just looked up a promo video for the EDFC and I'm really impressed. I had no idea those were out there either. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

I thought EDFC just allowed you to electronically adjust the dampner.. its cool but I don't know why you'd be playing with them that much. unless you want to rock harder settings for autox then soften it up for the way home.

well the new EDFC Active system actively adjusts during driving, so I thought that may be beneficial since each corner may not require the same settings ya know? this member had it on his GT and his SS coilovers seem to have Tein top mounts... http://www.6gc.net/members/3844 im getting closer... BOOM!!!! look who the knew owner of that members car is!!! http://www.6gc.net/celicas/gt-turbo-hatchback-10459 Mr.RoyO!! i love you google This post has been edited by Tigawoods: Jan 13, 2014 - 1:11 PM -------------------- 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

The next issue I face is with what shock design should I go with
mono-tube or twin tube. I am trying to decide what would be the best application for what I use my car for. TEIN SS - TWIN TEIN Type Flex - TWIN TEIN Mono Flex - Mono KSport Kontrol Sport - Mono KSPort GT Pro - Mono BC BR Type - Mono Megan EZ - Mono If I want to get EDFC and also go with the mono-tube design, I could (or have to) get a custom TEIN Mono Flex setup, but the cost would be around $3k+ for the coilovers (made to order) Apparently Tein as made an announcement of an EDFC Active Pro model that will be coming out this summer http://teinusa-blog.com/edfc-active-pro/ With independent 4 wheel adjustment along with longitudinal and lateral movement adjustments as where the EDFC Active non pro only has longitudinal. All this for a "few" hundred buck more they say.... Also looking into if it would be possible to adapt the EDFC to another brand coilover. There isnt much info on the web on this This post has been edited by Tigawoods: Jan 17, 2014 - 10:14 AM -------------------- 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

Honestly, I would get tooo involved in all the gimic type stuff that you can possibly get.
Suspension, especially when you're not a race only super dedicated team, does not get changed very often. The active EDFC is a nice touch to the TEIN SS, especially if its all off the shelf and bolt on for your car. But since you're autox and street driving I wouldn't waste the extra couple hundred in the uber fancy EDFC pro move in 100 ways toy. your cost to benefit ratio would be very unbalanced to little benefit. I can understand how the first version of the EDFC can be considered as more of a convince item since all it is doing is relocating the adjust-ability to the cabin and nothing more.
I think there is much more benefit for my application with the new Active, and even more so the Active pro. A single stationary dampening setting on all 4 corners is like covering all your bases with a blanket setting which may run perfectly on one corner but crappy on another. Ya know? And right now, yes the car is an auto-x street car which it will stay for the next 2 years max while I get back into the groove of racing, but I hope to get into track racing down at Summit Point immediately after that. An unbalanced cost to benefit ratio has been the motto of my car -------------------- 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

Since I dont plan on getting or doing any of this until next winter at the earliest, maybe something else will come into my life between now and then and distract me. So I imagine EDFC should increase feel by a lot? The unbalanced nature of the car makes the body sway, if the body sways just a bit less then more grip and feedback should theoretically be present. Hey Tiga real quick, sorry to change the subject. Had a question about the brake conversion. You said you could use na supra rotors redrilled to 5x100. Will tt supra rotors work as well? If not, why and what's the difference? If can use them then that's a relief because I picked up a set from AutoZone for $80.

talked to a representative...active pro won't release until 2 months from now...ill go in to see a tein representative to see if the EDFC active pro will work with the SS coilover kit they make for our cars, if the application works...even though it says on their website that the SS Coilover kit DSL36-KUSS2 is not compatible--> the reason is because of hood clearance issue, so they don't recommend buying the EDFC, or showed that the product is not EDFC compatible, but according to the representative, there is a way that we can have it install and bypass the clearance by having an elongated wire kit they sell to mount the motor elsewhere, and get it to work with the SS damper coilover kit they make for the celica 94-99. The only downside is that the coilover don't have pillowball mounts with it, so if we don't want to use the stock upper mounts, we can custom order the upper mounts to fit our celica, but it will cost $350 for the pair just for the front or back only...total $700 for front and back and it will take 2 months plus coming from japan. I say this beats having to adjust it manually...think this will be a nice investment especially if you are planning to keep the car.
