tar is still there, is beige. Being a budget build, did not want to spend too much time in it.

Oh ok! Well if you want to shave an easy +/- 10 lbs go buy 5-10$ worth of dry ice, spread on tar then light taps with a regular hammer. It will come off real easy and break into small pieces.

i needed to get the rear spindles out and broke some bolts, and cannot get the control arms.

the rear susp frame, is rusting, and needs sandblasting...

i have to get the whole piece out, and will disassemble outside the car...

The long through bolt in each hub is tough to get out.
I used a torch, massive impacts, and a sledge. Then I bought new bolts (ruined from the sledge).

The through bolts on the subframe shouldn't be too difficult, worse case cut them, and new bolts again.

Today. I did the same thing with customer's car.

Yellow ST202 ,original super strut, but very poor maintenance.

All ball joint are loose, front wheel bearing NG, and all super strut component are loose.

Today just finished rear side. I replace all 4 arms with solid rubber bushing type.

Tomorrow I will replace wheel bearing and super strut components.

Im 24 and Im sure it would be my dream lol. I love it and just getting another celica beater again too. Ive always loved the turbos, but they never come around. And I dont feel like shelling out the bucks to buy one though either just for a beater. There is 10 on craigslist right now for 1000-2000 depending on if you want the 1.8 or 2.2

I like the progress already. Keep it up!

so a pretty good weekend... because got stuff done, i dont recommend this by the average DIY, if you have no good tools you can be SOL...

for the arms, this was the problem... getting the rubber out was ok, but the metal sleeves were also frozen... so

basically i use a saw to cut inside and weaken the sleeve

and press it out.. i tried just pressing it out, but it was not working.. i kept slipping...

and here it is..

then i marked each piece so i remember where it goes. kinda braille (see those 2 dots)

at the end of the day, today, all pieces were ready for treatment... after fighting with the last frozen bolt in the spindle

in between, i took the chance to finish the seats in the rear... i dont reuse the hog pins, i keep very JDM, zip ties...

'

yes some pop corn is good.... and then after some scotch guard spray.. they look clean!! have to do the driver seat...

no rush to work on the suspension, as the bolts have not even shipped yet.....

at the end of the day, damage to the press...
