I'm seeing that this is a growing community of people building an opensource ems solution, there are even a couple of Toyota's running FreeEMS,.
Has anyone else been reading up on this or looking in to it,. initially I was looking for a solution to my brother's LS swap in a blazer, and now I'm wondering about the potential of our Toyota Motors. |

No this the first I've heard of it, but if you do it from a toyota ems to start with you're going to run into problem because the toyota ems is next to impossible to program from what I understand. -------------------- "As a professor of science, I assure you we did, in fact, evolve from filthy monkey-men." -Prof. Farnsworth

this is a tuneable standalone ems that you build and program, so you plug your sensors in to it, rather than your stock and tune it to run.

I've been digging in to this a bit further,. and I've read up on several people running true standalone, and other running piggy backed ems.
I'm getting ready for a V6 swap, and plan to use the Solara's ECU, grounded for manual transmission, but am really considering a full replacement ems that would use the stock ECU Case, with a newly built breadboard with my ems. This would allow for tuning of the VVTI., or at least that is what I believe from what I've read, and would still use factory connector, so swappable back to factory ecu. There is a Taco with the 5vz I think, up and running, along with a Supra with a 1uz v8,.. and many others. It seems like it's doable. Here is a link to the posts about the 4age Silver top that is running with this as a standalone,. http://forum.diyefi.org/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1101 and a link to the video YouTube Video |
